Claims
- 1. A germination floor comprising a horizontal support tube;
- a floor having a plurality of generally horizontal tray assemblies, said tray assemblies being mounted for pivotal movement about said horizontal support tube;
- bearing means for mounting said tray assemblies for pivotal movement about said tube;
- and said bearing means includes at least one member disposed about said tube and coupled to one of said tray assemblies, said member having an opening through which said tube is arranged to extend, said opening having a radius gradually increasing from a vertical point to a greatest radius at generally diametrical horizontal points spaced from said tube, said gradually increasing radius permitting said member to move in a perpendicular direction relative to said axis of said tube during pivotal movement of said at least one tray assembly.
- 2. The assembly according to claim 1 wherein said opening is provided in at least one plate member attached to each of said tray assemblies, a bearing shoe being carried by said horizontal tube and forming a bearing surface being arranged for relative movement in said opening.
- 3. The assembly according to claim 1 further comprising pneumatic cylinder means having coupled to said tray assemblies for moving said tray assemblies from a horizontal position to an upright position to provide access to the underside of said tray assemblies for cleaning, said extensible end being coupled to said tray assemblies by crank arm means, said crank arm means providing horizontal movement of said tray assembly relative to said support tube during the initial extention of said extensible end.
- 4. The assembly according to claim 1 further comprising a restrictor bar pivotally mounted on said support tube and said crank arm means to permit said horizontal movement.
- 5. A bearing assembly for carrying a tray system on an elongated cylindrical support tube being mounted at a stationary position comprising
- a plate member arranged to be affixed to a tray assembly;
- said plate member having an opening for receiving the stationary support tube to carry said plate member for pivotal movement relative to the longitudinal axis of said tube;
- a bearing shoe member carried by said tube and having a surface in contact with said tray assembly; and
- compensation means permitting said plate member to move perpendicular to said longitudinal axis during pivotal movement of said plate member for self-adjustment, and
- said compensation means provides said opening with an increased radius of curvature at two diametrically opposed points.
- 6. The bearing assembly according to claim 5 wherein said opening has a curved configuration having a gradually increasing radius, said opening having its greatest diameter along a first axis passing through the center of said opening, said opening having its smallest diameter along a second axis passing through said center and disposed perpendicular to said first axis.
- 7. A germination floor assembly comprising
- a plurality of tray assemblies forming a horizontal floor in a horizontal position, said tray assemblies being mounted on a horizontal support tube for pivotal movement,
- bearing means mounting said tray assemblies on said tube for said pivotal movement,
- said bearing means permitting relative movement between said tray assemblies and said support tube in at least a horizontal direction, and
- power lift means for moving said tray assemblies between said horizontal and an upright position, and
- said power lift means providing limited horizontal movement of said tray assemblies in opposite directions in said horizontal position prior to lifting and after lowering said tray assemblies to and from said upright position.
- 8. The assembly according to claim 7 wherein said power lift means includes a pneumatic cylinder having an end attached to each of said tray assemblies, crank arm means being attached to said end of said pneumatic cylinder, said crank arm means effecting said limited horizontal movement.
- 9. The assembly according to claim 7 wherein said end is an extensible end of said pneumatic cylinder.
- 10. The assembly according to claim 9 wherein said crank arm means includes at least one crank arm, at least one said crank arm being pivotally attached to said extensible end and to a tray assembly, means mounting said at least one crank arm for limited movement for effecting said horizontal movement during extension and retraction of said extensible end.
- 11. The assembly according to claim 10 wherein said means for mounting said at least one crank arm for pivotal movement includes a restrictor means, said restrictor means being operatively connected to said horizontal support tube.
- 12. The assembly according to claim 11 wherein said restrictor means is a restrictor bar having a fixed length permitting said limited pivotal movement of said at least one crank arm, said restrictor bar being pivotally mounted on said horizontal support tube and on said at least one crank arm.
- 13. The assembly according to claim 12 wherein said restrictor bar is mounted on said at least one crank arm at position between said tray assembly and said end of said pneumatic cylinder.
- 14. The assembly according to claim 12 wherein further including means for adjusting said fixed length of said restrictor bar.
- 15. A germination floor assembly comprising
- a tray assembly for supporting grain in a horizontal position,
- support means for supporting said tray assembly in an elevated position,
- bearing means operatively coupled to said tray assembly and said support means,
- said bearing means permitting pivotal movement of said tray assembly for lifting to an upright position for cleaning,
- said bearing means further permitting limited horizontal movement of said tray assembly for compensating for variation in tolerances and preventing binding of the tray assembly when lifted,
- power means operatively coupled to said tray assembly for lifting, attachment means for coupling a moveable end of said power means to said tray assembly, said attachment means permitting horizontal movement in opposite directions respectively during opposite directional movement of said power means, and restrictor means for limiting the extent of said horizontal movement and effecting lifting of said tray assembly.
