Claims
- 1. A glass-ceramic substrate for a magnetic disk comprising alpha-cristobalite (alpha SiO.sub.2) and lithium disilicate (LiO.sub.2.2 SiO.sub.3) as main crystal phases characterized in that the ratio of alpha cristobalite/lithium disilicate is within a range from 0.25 to 0.35, based on the ratio of peak heights in XRD using peak planes of alpha-cristobalite and lithium disilicate, a grain diameter of crystal grains is within a range of from 0.1 .mu.m to 1.0 .mu.m and the surface roughness (Ra) of the substrate after polishing is within a range from 2.ANG. to 9.ANG..
- 2. A glass-ceramic substrate as defined in claim 1 formed by subjecting to heat treatment a base glass which consists in weight percent of:
- ______________________________________SiO.sub.2 75-83% Li.sub.2 O 7-13% Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 1-5% P.sub.2 O.sub.5 1-3% MgO 0.5-3% ZnO 0.5-3% K.sub.2 O 0-5% As.sub.2 O.sub.3 and/or Sb.sub.2 O.sub.3 0-2%.______________________________________
