Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a golf training and, more particularly, to a golf training aid to help golfer's perfect putting.

Golf instruction is the art of equipping and training golfers to play better golf through improved awareness of swing cause and effects as a result of the actions by their body, the club, and their effect on the golf ball. As putting is one of the most important aspects of a player's golf game, a variety of teaching tools and trainers exist to assist the player in learning correct technique. Some tools are simply simulations of a putting green such as indoor putting mats and cups, or attachments such as laser guides. However, there is a current void of training aids that help the golfer align the putter head with a putting path to the cup.

As can be seen, there is a need for a training device that helps align golfers putter head with a putting path to the cup.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

In one aspect of the present invention, a golf putting aid comprises: a body having a substantially flat top and bottom surface and comprising a front side, a rear side, a first side, and a second side, wherein the rear side comprises a straight edge; and a first arm protruding from the front side at the first side of the body, and a second arm protruding from the front side at the second side of the body, wherein the first arm and the second arm form a slot in between sized to receive a golf ball within.

In another aspect of the present invention, a method of aligning a golf put comprises: providing a golf aid comprising: a body having a substantially flat top and bottom surface and comprising a front side, a rear side, a first side, and a second side, wherein the rear side comprises a straight edge; and a first arm protruding from the front side at the first side of the body, and a second arm protruding from the front side at the second side of the body, wherein the first arm and the second arm form a slot in between; placing the bottom surface on a putting green so that the first arm and second arm are pointed towards a desired putting path; placing the ball in between the first arm and the second arm; aligning a putter head with the straight edge of the rear side so that the putter head is parallel with the straight edge; and hitting the ball with the putter head.

These and other features, aspects and advantages of the present invention will become better understood with reference to the following drawings, description and claims.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The following detailed description is of the best currently contemplated modes of carrying out exemplary embodiments of the invention. The description is not to be taken in a limiting sense, but is made merely for the purpose of illustrating the general principles of the invention, since the scope of the invention is best defined by the appended claims.

The present invention includes a golf putting aid that square's the putter to the ball for a straight putt. The present invention includes a straight back edge. The ball sits in a slot located in the middle center of the training aid and creates a straight path to the golf green hole or target. The training aid may be an integral manufactured piece made of plastic or metal.

The device may include of a straight back edge roughly the same length as a putter head. An open slot starts from the front going through the center of the device to a point where the ball sets at the same distance from the putter as the back of the device at address. The ball sets into the device at a straight line to the hole or target when placed into the slot of the device. If the golf ball is struck with the putter head parallel to the back of the device, and the slot is straight to the hole or target, the path of the ball to the hole or target will be straight. This improves grip, stance and line at address.

Referring to FIGS. 1 through 4, the present invention includes a golf putting aid 10. The golf putting aid 10 includes a body 14, a first arm 16, and a second arm 18. The body 14 has a substantially flat top and bottom surface and includes a front side, a rear side, a first side, and a second side. The rear side includes a straight edge 12. The first arm 16 protrudes from the front side at the first side of the body 14, and the second arm 18 protrudes from the front side at the second side of the body 14. The first arm 16 and the second arm 18 form a slot 20 in between sized to receive a golf ball 22 within.

In certain embodiments, the body 14 includes a rectangular shape with the front side and the rear side substantially parallel relative to one another, and the first side and the second side substantially parallel relative to one another. The substantially flat top of the body 14 may taper from the rear side to the front side of the body 14. The taper prevents the golfer 28 from hitting the golf putting aid 10 with the putter 22 on the forward swing. Further, the straight edge on the rear side may include the same length as the putter 22. Therefore, a golfer 28 may easily align their putter head 24 with the rear side of the body 14.

The slot 20 formed in the golf training aid 10 is formed by the first arm 16 and a second arm 18. Each of the first arm 16 and second arm 18 include an inner edge facing one another. The inner edges may be parallel relative to one another to ensure a clear path for the ball 22. In certain embodiments, the slot 20 may extend into the body 14. In such embodiments, the slot 20 may include a semi-circular inner edge formed in the body 14. Therefore, the ball 22 may rest securely within the semi-circular inner edge.

A method of using the present invention may include the following. The golf training aid 10 described above may be provided. The bottom surface of the body 14 may be placed on a putting green and aligned so that the first arm 16 and the second arm 18 are pointing towards a desired putting path. The ball 22 may be placed into the slot 20 in between the first arm 16 and second arm 18. The putter head 24 may be aligned with the straight edge 12 of the rear side so that the putter head 24 is parallel with the straight edge 12. The user 28 may then hit the ball 22 with the putter head 22 and the ball may follow the putter path.

It should be understood, of course, that the foregoing relates to exemplary embodiments of the invention and that modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as set forth in the following claims.
