Claims
- 1. An antenna combination, comprising:
- a microstrip antenna having a downward facing planar ground layer and an opposed upward facing planar radiating layer having a vertical center axis, the microstrip antenna for one of (i) receiving a first airwave signal and issuing a first conducted signal representative of said first airwave signal or (ii) transmitting said first airwave signal and receiving said first conducted signal; and
- a wire loop antenna having a loop center axis approximately concentric with said vertical center axis, a circumference of less than one quarter a circumference of said radiating layer, disposed above said radiating layer, and having a first end and a second end connecting the wire loop antenna for one of (i) receiving a second airwave signal and issuing a second conducted signal between said first and said second end representative of said second airwave signal or (ii) receiving said second conducted signal between said first and said second end and transmitting said second airwave signal representative of said second conducted signal.
- 2. The antenna combination of claim 1, wherein:
- said first airwave signal is a global position system (GPS) signal including GPS location determination information.
- 3. The antenna combination of claim 1, wherein:
- said second airwave signal is a differential global positioning system (DGPS) signal having information for correcting a geographical location determined from the global positioning system.
- 4. The antenna combination of claim 1, wherein:
- said second airwave signal is a radio signal including information for a geographical position of the antenna combination.
- 5. The antenna combination of claim 1, wherein:
- the wire loop antenna is tuned for receiving said second airwave signal in a frequency band within a frequency range of 80 to 1900 MHz.
- 6. The antenna combination of claim 1, further including:
- a diplexer coupled to the microstrip antenna and the wire loop antenna for one of (i) receiving said first conducted signal and said second conducted signal and issuing a combined signal representative of said first and said second conducted signals or (ii) receiving said combined signal and issuing said first conducted signal and said second conducted signal.
- 7. An antenna combination, comprising:
- a microstrip antenna including a downward facing planar ground layer and an opposed upward facing planar top side having a vertical center axis, the microstrip antenna for one of (i) receiving a first airwave signal and issuing a first conducted signal representative of said first airwave signal or (ii) transmitting said first airwave signal and receiving said first conducted signal; and
- a wire loop antenna having a loop center axis approximately concentric with said vertical center axis and disposed below said ground layer, the wire loop antenna for one of (i) receiving a second airwave signal and issuing a second conducted signal representative of said second airwave signal or (ii) transmitting said second airwave signal and receiving said second conducted signal.
- 8. The antenna combination of claim 7, wherein:
- said first airwave signal is a global positioning system (GPS) signal having information for determining a geographical location.
- 9. The antenna combination of claim 7, wherein:
- said second airwave signal is a differential global positioning system (DGPS) signal having information for correcting a geographical location determined from the global positioning system.
- 10. The antenna combination of claim 7, wherein:
- said second airwave signal is a radio signal including information for a geographical position of the antenna combination.
- 11. The antenna combination of claim 7, wherein:
- the radio antenna is tuned for receiving said second airwave signal having a frequency band within a frequency range of 80 to 1900 MHz.
- 12. The antenna combination of claim 7, further including:
- a diplexer coupled to the microstrip antenna and the wire loop antenna for one of (i) receiving said first conducted signal and said second conducted signal and issuing a combined signal representative of said first and said second conducted signals or (ii) receiving said combined signal and issuing said first conducted signal and said second conducted signal.
