- 6. The tissue graft prosthesis of claim 5 wherein said sheet of renal capsule collagen has a bioburden level of less than 2 colony forming units per gram.
- 7. The tissue graft prosthesis of claim 1 wherein said graft prosthesis is a powder.
- 8. The tissue graft prosthesis of claim 1 wherein said graft prosthesis is a tube.
- 9. The tissue graft prosthesis of claim 1 wherein said graft prosthesis is an essentially planar sheet.
- 10. An article of manufacture comprising renal capsule collagen and sterile packaging containing the renal capsule collagen.
- 11. The article of claim 10 wherein said renal capsule collagen is dried.
- 12. The articles of claim 10 wherein said renal capsule collagen is in hydrated form.
- 13. The article of claim 10 wherein said renal capsule collagen is in sheet form.
- 14. The article of claim 10 wherein said renal capsule collagen is in powder form.
- 15. The article of claim 10 wherein said renal capsule collagen is in tubular form.
- 16. The article of claim 10 wherein said renal capsule collagen is in fluidized form.
- 17. A method for preparing an extracellular matrix composition, comprising:
decellularizing renal capsule tissue to form the extracellular matrix composition.
- 18. The method of claim 17 wherein said renal capsule tissue is from a warm-blooded vertebrate.
- 19. The method of claim 18 wherein said warm-blooded vertebrate is selected from a group consisting of porcine, bovine and ovine.
- 20. The method of claim 18 wherein said warm-blooded vertebrate is a pig.
- 21. The method of claim 17 wherein said decellularizing comprises exposing said renal capsule tissue to a decellularization agent.
- 22. The method of claim 21 wherein said agent is an oxidizing agent.
- 23. The method of claim 21 wherein said agent is a peroxy compound.
- 24. The method of claim 23 wherein said peroxy compound is peracetic acid.
- 25. The method of claim 17 wherein said tissue graft composition comprises a renal capsule extracellular matrix structure having a tensile strength of at least about 4 MPa.
- 26. The method of claim 17 further comprising forming said renal capsule tissue into a powder.
- 27. The method of claim 17 further comprising fluidizing said renal capsule tissue by enzyme digestion.
- 28. The method of claim 21 wherein said agent is a hypertonic salt solution.
- 29. A method of tissue grafting, comprising grafting a mammal with renal capsule collagen.
- 30. The method of tissue grafting of claim 29 wherein said renal capsule collagen is from an animal xenogenic to said mammal.
- 31. The method of tissue grafting of claim 30 wherein said renal capsule is porcine renal capsule.
