Claims
- 1. A graftless spinal implant for mechanically attaching two adjacent vertebrae, comprising:
a body having first and second opposite surfaces; wherein each of said first and second surfaces includes at least one protruding member for securing said body to adjacent vertebrae, wherein said exterior surfaces of said body and said first and second protruding members include a bioactive coating.
- 2. The graftless spinal implant of claim 1, wherein said bioactive coating comprises hydroxyapatite.
- 3. The graftless spinal implant of claim 2, wherein said protruding members are shaped as dovetail tongue protrusions.
- 4. The graftless spinal implant of claim 2, wherein said body is substantially rectangular.
- 5. The graftless spinal implant of claim 2, wherein said protruding members are shaped as horseshoe shaped tongue protrusions.
- 6. A method of forming a graftless spinal implant, comprising:
providing a spinal implant; and coating exterior surfaces of said spinal implant with a bioactive coating.
- 7. The method of claim 6, wherein said bioactive coating comprises hydroxyapatite.
