Claims
- 1. A method of producing a grain oriented electromagnetic steel sheet having a very low iron loss by polishing a surface of base metal in said steel sheet after finishing annealing to have a center-line average roughness of not more than 0.3 .mu.m, characterized in that said polishing employing an elastomeric polishing member using free abrasive grains or containing free abrasive grains, thereby is a mechanical polishing of giving a slight strain to said base metal surface.
- 2. The method according to claim 1, wherein said mechanical polishing is carried out with an elastomeric polishing member containing abrasive grains.
- 3. The method according to claim 1, wherein said mechanical polishing is carried out with an elastomeric polishing member using free abrasive grains.
- 4. The method according to claim 2 or 3, wherein said elastomeric polishing member is a roll or brush of an elastomer having a Shore hardness of 30.about.70.
- 5. The method according to claim 2 or 3, wherein said abrasive grain has a grain size of not more than #800.
- 6. The method according to claim 2, wherein said mechanical polishing is carried out at a polishing rate of not more than 3,000 m/min under a vertical pushing force of not more than 5 kg/cm.sup.2.
- 7. The method according to claim 3, wherein said mechanical polishing is carried out at a polishing rate of not more than 4,000 m/min under a vertical pushing force of not more than 5 kg/cm.sup.2 while supplying said abrasive grains or a polishing dispersion thereof between said base metal surface and said elastomeric polishing member.
