Claims
- 1. A self-aligning refuse container configured to be engaged by a conventional container handling mechanism, said container comprising:
- a refuse container body having an open top, a closed bottom, and a gripping portion positioned intermediate said top and said bottom;
- a divider panel mounted within said body dividing said body into separate compartments;
- a lid assembly coupled to and closing said open top of said body; and
- an overload panel extending from said divider panel, through said lid assembly in a substantially upright manner with respect thereto, to permit refuse to be carried atop said lid assembly.
- 2. A container as claimed in claim 1, wherein said gripping portion is substantially oval in cross-section, for aligning said container into a proper orientation for dumping, in response to engagement by said container handling mechanism.
- 3. A container as claimed in claim 1, wherein said divider panel is adjustably mounted within said body permitting relative size adjustments of said separate compartments.
- 4. A container as claimed in claim 3, wherein said bottom includes a plurality of notches for receiving a lower end of said divider panel.
- 5. A self-aligning refuse container for collecting and keeping separate at least a first and a second class of refuse, and for properly aligning said contained refuse for deposit by a container handling mechanism into separate receiving bins, said container comprising:
- a refuse container body having an open top, a closed bottom, and a gripping portion positioned intermediate said top and said bottom; and
- said gripping portion being substantially oval in cross-section, for aligning said container into a proper orientation for dumping, in response to engagement by said container handling mechanism.
- 6. A container as claimed in claim 5, further including:
- a divider panel mounted within said body dividing said body into separate compartments;
- a lid assembly coupled to and closing said open top of said body; and
- an overload panel extending from said divider panel, through said lid assembly in a substantially upright manner with respect thereto, to permit refuse to be carried atop said lid assembly.
- 7. A container as claimed in claim 6, wherein said divider panel is adjustably mounted within said body permitting relative size adjustments of said separate compartments.
- 8. A container as claimed in claim 7, wherein said bottom includes a plurality of notches for receiving a lower end of said divider panel.
- 9. A container as claimed in claim 6 wherein said lid assembly includes:
- a first lid sized to cover and close said open top corresponding to one of said separate compartments; and
- rear lid sized to cover and close said open top corresponding to the other of said separate compartments.
