Claims
- 1. A communication device comprising:
- a signal reception means for receiving a combined signal from a communication platform which combined multiple first signals from multiple wireless communication devices prior to sending the combined signal to the communication device, wherein the signal reception means receives the combined signal from the communication platform and the communication platform is a high-elevation, non-orbiting communication platform which includes buoyancy means for positioning the communication platform without the use of a support structure to the ground; and
- a processor means, coupled to the signal reception means, for separating the combined signal, resulting in the multiple first signals.
- 2. The communication device as claimed in claim 1, wherein the signal reception means is a directional antenna oriented to receive the combined signal from the communication platform.
- 3. A communication device comprising:
- a receiver suitable to receive a combined signal from a communication platform which combined multiple first signals from multiple wireless communication devices prior to sending the combined signal to the communication device, wherein the receiver receives the combined signal from the communication platform and the communication platform is a high-elevation, non-orbiting communication platform which includes buoyancy means for positioning the communication platform without the use of a support structure to the ground; and
- a processor, coupled to the receiver, suitable to parse the combined signal, resulting in the multiple first signals.
- 4. The communication device as claimed in claim 3, wherein the receiver is a directional antenna oriented to receive the combined signal from the communication platform.
- 5. The communication device as claimed in claim 3, further comprising:
- a transmitter, coupled to the processor, suitable to send second signals to the communication platform.
- 6. A communication device comprising:
- a processor means for combining signals from multiple sources, resulting in a combined signal; and
- a signal transmission means for sending the combined signal to a communication platform which separates the combined signal into multiple signals and routes the multiple signals to various receiving devices;
- wherein the signal transmission means sends the combined signal to the communication platform and the communication platform is a high-elevation, non-orbiting communication platform which includes buoyancy means for positioning the communication platform without the use of a support structure to the ground.
- 7. A communication device suitable for providing spectral reuse, the communication device comprising:
- a first directional antenna suitable to receive first signals from a non-orbiting communication platform and suitable to be positioned in a first antenna position, wherein the non-orbiting communication platform is suitable for positioning above the earth;
- a second directional antenna suitable to receive second signals from another wireless device and to be positioned in a second antenna position, wherein when the first signals and the second signals use an overlapping portion of spectrum, the first directional antenna and the second directional antenna can receive the first signals and the second signals without interference from each other because of spatial diversity between the first antenna position and the second antenna position; and
- a processor, coupled to the first directional antenna and the second directional antenna, suitable to control operations of the communication device.
- 8. The communication device as claimed in claim 7, further comprising:
- a tracking device, coupled to the second directional antenna, suitable to move the second directional antenna in a manner such that the second directional antenna can track the another wireless device and maintain a communication link as the another wireless device moves with respect to a surface of the earth.
- 9. The communication device as claimed in claim 7, wherein the processor is further suitable to determine when the first antenna position and the second antenna position will result in signal degradation, and to control the operations so that the signal degradation does not occur.
