Claims
- 1. A method of grouting a pattern of positioned floor tiles by operation of a grouting machine comprising the steps of:
- dispensing grout into the spaces between the tiles and on the upper surfaces thereof,
- adding a dilulent from the machine to the grout on the upper tile surfaces to form a slurry, and
- removing the slurry from the upper surfaces of the tiles and leaving the grout deposited in the spaces therebetween.
- 2. A method according to claim 1, comprising the further step of:
- wiping the grout on the upper surfaces of the tiles to form a thin film thereof prior to said adding step.
- 3. A method according to claim 1, comprising the additional step of moving the grouting machine over a predetermined pathway during said dispensing, adding, and removing steps.
- 4. A method according to claim 1, wherein said removing step comprises the substeps of:
- taking-up the slurry from the upper surfaces of the floor tiles, and
- transporting the slurry away from the removal position.
- 5. A method according to claim 1, wherein said removing step includes the substep of:
- moving the slurry via an air stream.
- 6. A method according to claim 1, wherein said dispensing step is at least partially effected via vibration of the grout.
- 7. A method according to claim 1, comprising the further step of:
- separating diluent from the removed diluent by filtering.
- 8. A method according to claim 7, comprising the further step of:
- recycling the diluent separated from the slurry for use in said adding step.
- 9. A method according to claim 1, wherein said removing step includes two sequential removal actions for removing the slurry from the upper surfaces of the tiles.
- 10. A method according to claim 9, wherein at least the first of said removal actions is preceded by the addition of a diluent to the film of grout.
- 11. A method of supplying grout into the spaces between a pattern of positioned floor tiles by operation of a grouting machine, comprising the steps of:
- dispensing grout from the machine into the spaces between the tiles and on the upper surfaces thereof,
- adding a diluent to the grout layer on the upper surfaces of the tiles to form a slurry,
- removing the slurry from the upper surfaces of the tiles by contact with a wiping element of the machine, and
- leaving the grout deposited by said dispensing step in the spaces between the tiles.
- 12. A method according to claim 11, wherein said removing step further comprises the step of recycling the diluent removed in said removing step for use in said adding step.
- 13. A method according to claim 11, wherein said removing step further comprises the step of moving the wiping element across the tile upper surfaces in a manner different from the movement of the grouting machine over the floor.
- 14. A method according to claim 11, comprising the further step of:
- wiping the grout on the upper surfaces of the tiles to form a thin film thereof prior to said adding step.
- 15. A method according to claim 11, comprising the further step of:
- confining the application of grout in said dispensing step to a defined pathway.
- 16. A method according to claim 11, comprising the additional step of moving the grouting machine over a predetermined pathway during said dispensing, and removing steps.
- 17. A method according to claim 11, wherein said removing step comprises the substeps of:
- taking-up the slurry from the upper surfaces of the floor tiles, and
- transporting the slurry away from the take-up position.
- 18. A method according to claim 11, wherein said removing step includes the substep of:
- moving the slurry via an air stream.
- 19. A method according to claim 11, wherein said dispensing step is effected via vibration of the grout.
- 20. A method according to claim 11, wherein said removing step includes two sequential removal actions for removing the slurry from the upper surfaces of the tiles.
- 21. A method according to claim 20, wherein each of said removal actions is preceded by the addition of a diluent to the film of grout.
- 22. A method of supplying grout into the spaces between a pattern of positioned floor tiles by operation of a grouting machine, comprising the steps of:
- dispensing grout into the spaces between the tiles and on the upper surfaces thereof,
- removing the grout from the upper surfaces of the tile by moving a wiping element across the tile upper surfaces in a manner different from the movement of the grouting machine over the floor and leaving the grout deposited by said dispensing step in the spaces between the tiles.
- 23. A method according to claim 22, comprising the further step of:
- wiping the grout on the upper surfaces of the tiles to form a thin film thereof prior to said adding step.
- 24. A method according to claim 22, comprising the further step of:
- confining the application of grout in said dispensing step to a defined pathway.
- 25. A method according to claim 22, comprising the additional step of moving the grouting machine over a predetermined pathway during said dispensing, and removing steps.
- 26. A method according to claim 22, wherein said removing step comprises the substeps of:
- taking-up the slurry from the upper surfaces of the floor tiles, and
- transporting the slurry away from the take-up position.
- 27. A method according to claim 22, wherein said removing step includes the substep of:
- moving the slurry via an air stream.
- 28. A method according to claim 22, wherein said dispensing step is effected via vibration of the grout.
- 29. A method according to claim 22, wherein said removing step comprises the step of adding a diluent to the grout layer on the upper surfaces of the tiles to form a slurry.
- 30. A method according to claim 29, wherein said removing step further comprises the step of recycling the diluent removed in said removing step for use in said adding step.
- 31. A method according to claim 22, wherein said removing step includes two sequential removal actions for removing the slurry from the upper surfaces of the tiles.
- 32. A method according to claim 31, wherein at least one of said removal actions is preceded by the addition of a diluent to the film of grout.
