Claims
- 1. A method of enhancing the wound healing processes in humans and animals comprising, accelerating the growth of wounded tissue and related cells by administering naltrexone in an amount sufficient to continuously blockade the receptor sites of said wounded tissue and related cells.
- 2. The method of claim 1 wherein the accelerated growth of said wounded tissue and related cells is carried out in vivo or in vitro.
- 3. The method of claim 1 wherein said growth acceleration is effected in animals by the administration of naltrexone in a cumulative amount of at least about 10 mg/kg per day.
- 4. The method of claim 1 wherein said growth acceleration is effected in humans by the administration of said opioid antagonist in a cumulative amount of at least about 20 mg per day.
- 5. The method of claim 1 wherein said antagonist is administered in a cumulative amount to effect continous blockade of said receptor sites for a duration of at least about 12 hours per day.
- 6. The method fo claim 1 wherein said antagonist is administered in vitro in an amount between about 10.sup.-8 and about 10.sup.-3 M concentrations.
