Claims
- 1. A device for cleaning a gun bore comprising a primed cartridge case adapted to hold a bore cleaning means for cleaning said bore and to contain a propellant for propelling said bore cleaning means through the bore; said bore cleaning means having a bore-cleaning member and a back end having a base for mounting a rear end of said bore cleaning member.
- 2. The device of claim 1 wherein said bore-cleaning member is a brush.
- 3. The device of claim 1 wherein said bore-cleaning member is an adsorbent containing a lubricant.
- 4. The device of claim 1 wherein said bore-cleaning member is a combination of an adsorbent containing a lubricant and a brush.
- 5. The device of claim 1 wherein said bore-cleaning member has a male shaft having a threaded end projecting from said rear end of said bore-cleaning and said back end has a threaded female shaft adapted to receive said threaded end.
- 6. The device of claim 5 wherein said base comprises a metal sleeve having an opening adjacent said rear end of said bore-cleaning member, said female shaft protruding from said opening, and an insert within said metal sleeve to affix said female shaft within said sleeve.
- 7. The device of claim 6 wherein said bore-cleaning member is a brush.
- 8. The device of claim 7 wherein said brush has bristles extending from said male shaft.
- 9. The device of claim 8 wherein said bristles consist of a tempered metal.
- 10. The method of cleaning a gun which comprises:
(a) feeding into a chamber of a gun a primed cartridge containing a bore cleaning means and sufficient propellant for propelling said bore cleaning means through the bore, said bore cleaning means having a bore-cleaning member and a back end having a base for mounting a rear end of said bore cleaning member; and (b) firing said primed cartridge.
