- 6. The gun hammer lock apparatus defined in claim 1 wherein hardened inserts are embodied in the side bracket.
- 7. A gun hammer locking apparatus for a gun having a hammer and associated firing pin, a trigger and trigger guard, comprising:
a side member, having an upper portion and lower portion, the side member adapted to be mounted on one side of the gun and trigger guard, the side member upper portion with means for immobilizing the hammer to prevent the hammer from striking the firing pin.
- 8. The gun hammer locking apparatus defined in claim 7 wherein the side member upper portion immobilizing means comprises a plug for seating between the hammer and firing pin.
- 9. The gun hammer locking apparatus defined in claim 8 wherein the plug is sized and shaped to substantially fill the cavity formed between the hammer and firing pin.
- 10. The gun hammer locking apparatus defined in claim 9 wherein the side bracket upper portion immobilizing means comprises a depending portion seated over the top portion of the gun having an opening for seating over the hammer and limiting its movement.
- 11. The gun hammer locking apparatus defined in claim 10 wherein the side bracket lower portion has a lower depending portion for seating under the trigger guard when the side bracket is placed over the hammer.
- 12. The gun trigger blocking apparatus defined in claim 11 wherein the side bracket is locked to the gun between two side members affixed on opposite sides of the trigger guard.
- 13. The gun trigger blocking apparatus defined in claim 11 wherein the side bracket is locked to the gun by a padlock.
- 14. The gun trigger blocking apparatus defined in claim 13 wherein the padlock is hardened.
- 15. The gun trigger blocking apparatus defined in claim 11 wherein the side bracket is hardened.
- 16. A firearm security arrangement for a gun with a top portion having a hammer and associated firing pin, and also a trigger and trigger guard, comprising:
a bracket having two ends, one end having a depending portion extending over the top portion of the gun with a plug for seating between the hammer and firing pin, and the other end having an L-shaped portion for seating under the trigger guard when the plug is seated.
- 17. The firearm security arrangement defined in claim 16 further including a locking mechanism for securing the bracket to the gun such that the plug remains seated between the hammer and firing pin.
- 18. The firearm security arrangement defined in claim 16 wherein the L-shaped portion has an upstanding segment whereby a channel is provided for capturing the trigger guard therein.
- 19. A firearm security arrangement for a gun with top portion having a hammer and associated firing pin, and a trigger and trigger guard, comprising:
a bracket having two ends, one end having a depending portion extending over the top portion of the gun with a opening for seating over the hammer, and the other end having a channel for seating under the trigger guard when the depending portion opening is seated over the hammer.
- 20. The firearm security arrangement defined in claim 19 further including a locking mechanism for securing the bracket to the gun such that the plug remains seated between the hammer and firing pin.
- 21. The firearm security arrangement defined in claim 19 wherein the bracket is hardened.
- 22. A gun hammer locking apparatus for a gun having a top portion with a hammer and associated firing pin, and also a trigger and trigger guard, comprising:
a side member, having an upper section and lower section, the side member adapted to be mounted on one side of the gun and trigger guard with the side member upper section extending over and seating on the top portion of the gun and the lower portion having a depending edge which seats under the trigger guard.
- 23. The gun hammer locking apparatus defined in claim 22 wherein the side member upper section has a plug that seats in between the hammer and the firing pin.
- 24. The gun hammer locking apparatus defined in claim 22 wherein the side member upper section has a hole for receiving the hammer therein to limit its movement to prevent operation of the gun.
