Claims
- 1. A hair care formulation, comprising:(I) from about 0.5 to about 20 wt % on a dry basis, based on the total amount of the hair care formulation, of a hybrid-graft copolymer comprising: (A) about 2 to about 90 wt %, based on the total hybrid-graft copolymer weight, of a sulfopolyester comprising a condensation polymerization product of: (1) about 15 to about 26 mol % dimethyl-5-sodiosulfoisophthalate based on 100 mol % dicarboxylic acid; (2) about 60 to about 80 mol % isophthalic acid based on 100 mol % dicarboxylic acid; (3) about 10 to about 30 mol % of 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol based on 100 mol % of diol; and (4) about 70 to about 90 mol % diethylene glycol based on 100 mol % of diol, and (B) about 10 to about 98 wt %, based on the total hybrid-graft copolymer weight, of an acid-functional polymer segment comprising: (1) about 15 to about 50 wt %, based on the total amount of the acid-functional polymer segment, of an acid-functional monomer, (2) about 10 to about 80 wt %, based on the total amount of the acid-functional polymer segment, of an ethylenically unsaturated monomer, and (3) up to about 40 wt %, based on the total of the acid-functional polymer segment, of an amide-functional monomer; and (II) from about 80 to about 99.5 wt %, based on the total amount of the hair care formulation, of a liquid vehicle; and (III) up to about 80 wt %, based on the total amount of the hair care formulation, of at least one volatile organic compound; and wherein the pH of said hair care formulation ranges from about 6.0 to about 9.5.
- 2. A hair care formulation of claim 1, wherein said liquid vehicle is water or a mixture of water with at least one alcohol, acetone or lower alkyl ester and said volatile organic compound (III) is selected from the group consisting of C1-C12 alcohol, C3-C5 aliphatic straight chain ketone, C1-C12 hydrocarbon, di-C1-C12 alkyl ether, and mixtures thereof.
- 3. A hair care formulation of claim 1, further comprising at least one adjuvant selected from the group consisting of a plasticizer, a colorant, a silicone compound, an emollient, a lubricant, a polymer, a conditioner, a fragrance, an anti-foaming agent, a preservative, an emulsifier, a thickener, a viscosity modifier, a bleaching agent, a hair reducing agent, and mixtures thereof.
- 4. A hair care formulation of claim 1, further comprising from about 3 to about 60 wt %, based on the total amount of the hair care formulation, of a propellant.
- 5. A hair care formulation of claim 4, further comprising of at least one adjuvant selected from the group consisting of a plasticizer, a colorant, a silicone compound, an emollient, a lubricant, a polymer, a conditioner, a fragrance, an anti-foaming agent, a preservative, an emulsifier, a thickener, a viscosity modifier, a bleaching agent, a hair reducing agent, and mixtures thereof.
- 6. A hair care formulation of claim 4, wherein said liquid vehicle is a mixture of water with at least one alcohol, acetone or lower alkyl ester, and wherein said propellant is selected from the group consisting of dimethyl ether, trichlorofluoromethane, chlorodifluoromethane, 1,1-difluoroethane and dichlorotetrafluoroethane, monochlorodifluoromethane, trichlorotrifluoroethane, methane, ethane, propane, n-butane, isobutane, and mixtures thereof.
- 7. A hair care formulation, comprising:(I) from about 0.5 to about 20 wt %, based on the total amount of the hair care formulation, of a hybrid-graft copolymer comprising: (A) about 5 to about 80 wt %, based on the total hybrid-graft copolymer weight, of a sulfopolyester; (B) about 15 to about 55 wt %, based on the total hybrid-graft copolymer weight, of a first acid-functional polymer segment comprising: (1) about 15 to about 50 wt %, based on the total amount of the first acid-functional polymer segment, of an acid-functional monomer, (2) about 10 to about 80 wt %, based on the total amount of the first acid-functional polymer segment, of an ethylenically unsaturated monomer; and (3) up to about 40 wt %, based on the total of the first acid-functional polymer segment, of an amide-functional monomer; and (C) about 5 to about 40 wt %, based on the total hybrid-graft copolymer weight, of a second acid-functional polymer segment; wherein said second acid-functional polymer comprises: (1) about 15 to about 50 wt %, based on the total amount of the second acid-functional polymer segment, of an acid-functional monomer; (2) about 10 to about 80 wt %, based on the total amount of the second acid-functional polymer segment, of an ethylenically unsaturated monomer; and (3) up to about 40 wt %, based on the total of the second acid-functional polymer segment, of an amide-functional monomer; wherein said first and said second acid-functional polymer segments have different glass transition temperatures;(II) from about 80 to about 98 wt %, based on the total amount of the hair care formulation, of a liquid vehicle; and (III) up to about 80 wt %, based on the total amount of the hair care formulation, of at least one volatile organic compound; and wherein the pH of said aqueous hair care formulation ranges from about 6.0 to about 9.5.
- 8. A hair care formulation of claim 7, wherein said sulfopolyester (A) comprises a condensation polymerization product of:(1) about 15 to about 26 mol % dimethyl-5-sodiosulfoisophthalate based on 100 mol % dicarboxylic acid; (2) about 60 to about 80 mol % isophthalic acid based on 100 mol % dicarboxylic acid; (3) about 10 to about 30 mol % of 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol based on 100 mol % of diol; and (4) about 70 to about 90 mol % diethylene glycol based on 100 mol % of diol.
- 9. A hair care formulation of claim 7, wherein said first acid-functional polymer segment has a glass transition temperature of from about 40 to about 80° C., and said second acid-functional polymer segment has a glass transition temperature of from about 20 to about 50° C.
- 10. A hair care formulation of claim 9, wherein said liquid vehicle is water or a mixture of water with at least one alcohol, acetone or lower alkyl ester and said volatile organic compound (III) is selected from the group consisting of C1-C12 alcohol, C3-C5 aliphatic straight chain ketone, C1-C12 hydrocarbon, di-C1-C12 alkyl ether, and mixtures thereof.
- 11. A hair care formulation of claim 7, further comprising of at least one adjuvant selected from the group consisting of a plasticizer, a colorant, a silicone compound, an emollient, a lubricant, a polymer, a conditioner, a fragrance, an anti-foaming agent, a preservative, an emulsifier, a thickener, a viscosity modifier, a bleaching agent, a hair reducing agent, and mixtures thereof.
- 12. A hair care formulation of claim 7, further comprising from about 3 to about 60 wt %, based on the total amount of the hair care formulation, of a propellant.
- 13. A hair care formulation of claim 12, further comprising of at least one adjuvant selected from the group consisting of a plasticizer, a colorant, a silicone compound, an emollient, a lubricant, a polymer, a conditioner, a fragrance, an anti-foaming agent, a preservative, an emulsifier, a thickener, a viscosity modifier, a bleaching agent, a hair reducing agent, and mixtures thereof.
- 14. A hair care formulation of claim 12, wherein said liquid vehicle is a mixture of water with at least one alcohol, acetone or lower alkyl ester, and wherein said propellant is selected from the group consisting of dimethyl ether, trichlorofluoromethane, chlorodifluoromethane, 1,1-difluoroethane and dichlorotetrafluoroethane, monochlorodifluoromethane, trichlorotrifluoroethane, methane, ethane, propane, n-butane, isobutane, and mixtures thereof.
