Claims
- 1. A hair care composition comprising:(a) at least one compound according to general formula (I): wherein; each X is independently selected from substituted or unsubstituted, saturated or unsaturated carbon; n is 0-10; R1 is selected from hydrogen, alkyl, arylalkyl or alkaryl; R2 is selected from: (i) hydrogen; (ii) alkyl; (iii) aryl, alkaryl, arylalkyl; (iv) hydroxyalkyl, hydroxyaryl, hydroxyalkaryl, hydroxyarylalkyl; (v) —Zm—N(R5)2; (vi) —Zm—Y—C(N(R5)2)═R5; (vii) —Zm—S—Q; (viii) —Zp—S—S—Zp—CR5(N(R5)2)—COOR6; (ix) —Zm—COOR5; each m is, independently, 0-8; each p is, independently, 0-2: each Z is, independently, selected from substituted or unsubstituted, saturated or unsaturated carbon; Y is selected from a covalent bond and NR5; Q is selected from hydrogen or alkyl; R3 is selected from alkyl, aryl, alkaryl, arylalkyl, —CF3; each R4 is, independently, selected from hydrogen and alkyl (which can be aliphatic or can be bonded to the R2 position to form a ring structure); each R5 is, independently, selected from hydrogen and alkyl; R6 is selected from hydrogen alkyl, aryl, alkaryl, arylalkyl, and —CF3; and (b) a cosmetically acceptable-carrier.
- 2. A composition according to claim 1 wherein R1 is selected from hydrogen and alkyl.
- 3. A composition according to claim 1 wherein R3 is selected from aryl and alkyl groups.
- 4. A composition according to claim 1 wherein R3 is selected from alkyl.
- 5. A composition according to claim 1 wherein R3 is methyl.
- 6. A composition according to claim 1 wherein said compound according to general formula (I) has a water solubility of at least about 0.1 g/l.
- 7. A composition according to claim 1 wherein R2 is selected from arylalkyl, hydroxyarylalkyl, —Zm—S—Q, —Zp—S—S—Zp—CR5(NR52)—COOR6, and —Zm—COOR5.
- 8. A composition according to claim 1 wherein the cosmetically acceptable carrier is suitable for use on hair.
- 9. A composition according to claim 1 wherein the cosmetically acceptable carrier comprises one or more hair conditioning agents.
- 10. A composition according to claim 1 wherein the cosmetically acceptable carrier comprises one or more silicone hair conditioning agents.
- 11. A composition according to claim 1 wherein the cosmetically acceptable carrier comprises one or more cationic hair conditioning agents.
- 12. A composition according to claim 1 wherein said composition further comprises one or more amino acids and/or peptides.
- 13. A composition according to claim 1 wherein said composition further comprises one or more amino acids selected from arginine, lysine, methionine, tryptophan, histidine, phenylalanine, tyrosine, cysteine, cystine and mixtures thereof.
- 14. A cosmetic method of treating a substrate comprising applying a composition according to claim 1 to said substrate.
- 15. A composition according to claim 1 wherein R2 in said compound according to general formula (I) is a C1-C8 alkyl.
- 16. A composition according to claim 1 wherein R2 in said compound according to general formula (I) is a C1-C4 alkyl.
- 17. A composition according to claim 1 wherein m in said compound according to general formula (I) is independently 1 to 4.
- 18. A composition according to claim 1 wherein p in said compound according to general formula (I) is 0.
