The disclosure and prior art relates to shroud devices and more particularly pertains to a new shroud device for inhibiting hair dye from dripping onto clothes and skin when the hair dye is being applied.
An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a shroud that is selectively worn when hair is being dyed. The shroud is worn in a first position to cover shoulders when hair dye is being applied. The shroud is comprised of a fluid impermeable material to inhibit the hair dye from contacting skin. The shroud is worn in a second position having the shroud being wrapped around a head when the hair dye is applied. In this way the shroud inhibits the hair dye from dripping. A strip is coupled to the shroud and the strip is aligned with a peripheral edge of the shroud. The strip is comprised of a fluid absorbent material to inhibit the hair dye from passing between the shroud and the skin.
There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
As best illustrated in
The shroud 12 has a first surface 18, a second surface 20 and a peripheral edge 22 extending therebetween. The peripheral edge 22 has a front side 24, a back side 26, a first lateral side 28 and a second lateral side 30. A strip 32 is coupled to the shroud 12 and the strip 32 is aligned with the peripheral edge 22 of the shroud 12. The strip 32 is comprised of a fluid absorbent material such as cotton or the like to inhibit the hair dye from passing between the shroud 12 and the skin. The strip 32 is positioned on the front side 24 having the strip 32 being coextensive with the front side 24 and the strip 32 has a first surface 34 and a second surface 36. The shroud 12 may have a length ranging between approximately 120.0 cm and 150.0 cm and a width ranging between approximately 60.0 cm and 75.0 cm.
A pair of first mating members 38 is provided and each of the first mating members 38 is coupled to the strip 32. The first mating members 38 releasably engage each other to retain the shroud 12 in the first position and the second position. Each of first mating members 38 is positioned on an associated one of the first 34 and second 36 surfaces of the strip 32. Moreover, each of the first mating members 38 is aligned with an associated one of the first 28 and second 30 lateral sides of the shroud 12. The first mating members 38 close the shroud 12 around a neck 40 when the shroud 12 is worn in the first position. Additionally, the first mating members 38 close the shroud 12 about a hairline 42 when the shroud 12 is worn in the second position.
A pair of second mating members 44 is provided and each of the second mating members 44 is coupled to the shroud 12. Each of the second mating members 44 releasably engage each other to retain the shroud 12 in the second position. Each of the second mating members 44 is positioned on an associated one of the first 34 and second 36 surfaces of the shroud 12. Additionally, each of the second mating members 44 is aligned with an associated one of the back side 26 and the first lateral side 28 of the shroud 12. In this way the second mating members 44 retain the shroud 12 in the convention of a hair cap when the shroud 12 is worn in the second position. Moreover, each of the first 38 and second 44 mating members may comprise complementary hook and loop fasteners or the like.
In use, the shroud 12 is worn in the first position having the shroud 12 being worn around the shoulders 14 in the convention of a cape when the hair dye is being applied to the hair. The first mating members 38 are mated together to close the shroud 12 around the shoulders 14. Thus, clothing and the shoulders 14 are protected from spilled and dripping hair dye when the hair dye is being applied. The shroud 12 is wrapped around the user's head 16 when the hair dye is finished being applied. The strip 32 is positioned to extend around the hairline and the first mating members 38 engage the strip 32 to retain the shroud 12 around the hair. Additionally, the shroud 12 is gathered around the head 16 and the second mating members 44 are mated together at a crown of the head 16 to close the shroud 12 around the hair. In this way the shroud 12 inhibits the hair dye from dripping off of the hair and the strip 32 inhibits the hair dye from running down the user's head 16. The shroud 12 is discarded when the hair dye is finished being applied to the hair.
With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
