Abstract
A hairpin comprising a metal body and a silicone coating covering the metal body, the silicone coating begin configured for heat resistance.
Description
FIELD OF INVENTION

The presently disclosed subject matter relates to a hairpin, in general, and in particular to a hairpin for holding a person's hair in place.

BACKGROUND

A hairpin or hair clip is a long device used to hold a person's hair in place and it is used to secure long hair out of the way for convenience or as part of an elaborate hairstyle or coiffure. Hairpins are typically made of metal, ivory, bronze, carved wood, etc. The hairpin may be decorative and encrusted with jewels and ornaments, or it may be utilitarian, and designed to be almost invisible while holding a hairstyle in place.

Some hairpins are a single straight pin, but modern versions are more likely to be constructed from different lengths of wire that are bent in half with a u-shaped end and a few protrusions along the two opposite portions. The length of the wires is configured for placement in several styles of hairdos to hold the style in place. The protrusions are configured for retaining the pin during normal movements.

SUMMARY OF INVENTION

There is provided in accordance with an aspect of the presently disclosed subject matter a hairpin comprising a metal body and a silicone coating covering the metal body, the silicone coating begin configured for heat resistance.

The silicone coating can cover the entire area of the metal body.

The silicone coating can be configured to withstand temperature in the range of −30 F to +350 F.

The silicone coating can be configured to withstand temperature in the range of −30 F to +450 F.

The silicone coating can include a friction coefficient which is configured to grip human hair.

The silicone coating can include at least one protrusions disposed on a portion of the hairpin and being configured for griping of hair.

The silicone coating can be configured for a non-stick engagement with hair.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

In order to understand the disclosure and to see how it may be carried out in practice, embodiments will now be described, by way of non-limiting examples only, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:

FIG. 1 is a side perspective view of a hairpin in accordance with an example of the presently disclosed subject matter; and

FIG. 2 is a top view of the hairpin of FIG. 1.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF EMBODIMENTS

FIGS. 1 and 2 show a hairpin 10 or hair clip having a metal body and silicone coating 12 fully covering the metal body. The silicone coating can be configured for heat resistance providing the hairpin 10 with durability such that it can be exposed to a wide range of temperatures, for example between −30 F and +350 F. The silicone coating 12 protects the metal body and precludes melting or freezing thereof. In addition the silicone coating can be configured to preclude heat absorbent, such that even when the hairpin is disposed in a hot ambient, the silicone coating 12 does not transfer heat to the metal body, or to the scalp. I.e. the silicone coating can be configured to preclude burns caused by heating of the metal body of the hairpin 10.

In addition the silicone coating 12 can be configured to preclude staining or sticking of the hairpin, such which is caused by rust or paint.

In addition, the silicone coating can be configured for non-slip gripping, i.e. with a friction coefficient which is configured to grip human hair. This way, the hairpin 10 can be utilized for holding coiffure.

In addition, the silicone coating 12 can be configured to allow utilizing the hairpin 10 or as an accessory for various hair treatments such as hair processor, heat lamp or hair steamer. This is due to the durability of the silicone coating 12 and its ability to prelude heat transfer the scalp.

Furthermore, according to an example, the silicone coating 12 can be configured to resist heat at temperatures which are used for processing wigs, or hair while it is not connected to the scalp. i.e. the silicone coating 12 can be configured to resist heat at a very high temperature.

The hairpin 10 of the present invention can provides significant advantages to colorists as they are be able to hold the hair or the foils when applying hair color or use as a mark to identify different hair color shades to create different color designs.

The hairpin 10 can be configured as a fashionable hair accessory having a variety of colors, sizes, shapes and can be elaborately decorated or jeweled.

The silicone coating 12 can be configured to preclude the chipping of the metal body and can be configured to allow cleaning and washing thereof such that the hairpin can be reused for various applications.

The metal body can be in a U-shaped body having an upper portion 14a and a bottom portion 14b forming a griping area 16 therebetween. The silicone coating 12 can include one or more protrusions 20 on the upper portion 14a or bottom portion 14b facing the griping area 16. The protrusions 20 can be configured to provide better grip of hair disposed in the griping area 16. According to an example both the upper portion 14a or bottom portion 14b include protrusions 20 disposed in an interleaving arrangement with respect to one another.

Those skilled in the art to which the presently disclosed subject matter pertains will readily appreciate that numerous changes, variations, and modifications can be made without departing from the scope of the invention, mutatis mutandis.
