                - 1. A herbicidal composition comprising:

                - (a) an herbicidally effective amount of an acetanilide compound of the formula ##STR9## in which R.sub.5 and R.sub.7 are independently each alkyl having 1-2 carbon atoms, inclusive; and

                - R.sub.6 is alkoxyalkyl having 1-4 carbon atoms, inclusive; and

                - (b) a non-phytotoxic antidotally effective amount of a compound of the formula ##STR10## in which X is halomethyl, wherein halo is selected from the group consisting of chlorine, bromine, and iodine and the methyl group is mono-, di-, or tri-substituted; and

                - R.sub.1 is selected from the group consisting of lower alkyl having 1-4 carbon atoms, inclusive, and alkenyloxy having from 2-6 carbon atoms, inclusive, provided that, if R.sub.1 is alkyl the haloacetylaminomethyl moiety is attached to the ring at the 2-position.

                - 2. A herbicidal composition as defined in claim 1 wherein X is chloromethyl, R.sub.1 is allyloxy, and the haloacetylaminomethyl group is attached to the ring at the 4-position.

                - 3. A herbicidal composition as defined in claim 1 wherein X is dichloro methyl, R.sub.1 is methyl, and the haloacetylaminomethyl group is attached to the ring at the 2-position.

                - 4. A herbicidal composition as defined in claim 1 wherein R.sub.5 and R.sub.7 are both ethyl and R.sub.6 is methoxymethyl.

                - 5. A herbicidal composition as defined in claim 1 wherein R.sub.5 and R.sub.7 are both methyl and R.sub.6 is methoxyethyl.

                - 6. A method of controlling undesirable vegetation and reducing herbicidal crop injury to corn, milo, rice, wheat and barley due to an acetanilide herbicide which comprises applying to the locus where control is desired a herbicidal composition comprising:

                - (a) an herbicidally effective amount of an acetanilide compound of the formula ##STR11## in which R.sub.5 and R.sub.7 are independently each alkyl having 1-2 carbon atoms, inclusive; and

                - R.sub.6 is alkoxyalkyl having 1-4 carbon atoms, inclusive; and

                - (b) a non-phytotoxic antidotally effective amount of a compound of the formula ##STR12## in which X is halomethyl, wherein halo is selected from the group consisting of chlorine, bromine, and iodine and the methyl group is mono-, di-, or tri-substituted; and

                - 7. A method as defined in claim 6 wherein X is chloromethyl, R.sub.1 is allyloxy, and the haloacetylaminomethyl group is attached to the ring the 4-position.

                - 8. A method as defined in claim 6 wherein X is dichloromethyl, R.sub.1 is methyl, and the haloacetylaminomethyl group is attached to the ring at the 2-position.

                - 9. A method as defined in claim 6 wherein R.sub.5 and R.sub.7 are both ethyl and R.sub.6 is methoxymethyl.

                - 10. A method as defined in claim 6 wherein R.sub.5 and R.sub.7 are both methyl and R.sub.6 is methoxyethyl.
