Claims
- 1. A hand-held electronic game device for being held in a player's hand comprising:
- an elongated body having arcuate sides, an intermediate portion and first and second ends;
- an electronic display located at the intermediate portion of said elongated body between said first and second ends;
- a switch control at the first end of said elongated body operable with the player's fingers; and
- an electronic circuit responsive to said switch control for controlling said electronic display, the electronic circuit being housed within said elongated body;
- said elongated body comprising a recessed opening defined along the intermediate portion of said elongated body, said electronic display being mounted in said recessed opening.
- 2. A device in accordance with claim 1 wherein said switch control comprises a plurality of push buttons on the first end of said elongated body being manipulatable by the player's fingers for controlling said electronic display.
- 3. A device in accordance with claim 2 wherein said switch control comprises hand operable switches abutting the first end of said elongated body being manipulatable by the player's fingers for controlling said electronic display.
- 4. A device in accordance with claim 2 wherein said plurality of push buttons comprise momentary conductive rubber membrane switches.
- 5. A device in accordance with claim 1 wherein said electronic circuit comprises a computer control circuit for controlling said electronic display.
- 6. A device in accordance with claim 5 wherein said computer control circuit comprises a single-chip microcomputer coupled directly to said electronic display.
- 7. A device in accordance with claim 5 comprising a piezo speaker, wherein said computer control circuit comprises a single-chip microcomputer coupled to said speaker for providing sound effects in conjunction with said switch control and said electronic display.
- 8. A device in accordance with claim 1 wherein the intermediate portion of said elongated body is generally tubular.
- 9. A device in accordance with claim 1 wherein said electronic display comprises a liquid crystal display.
- 10. A device in accordance with claim 1 comprising a counter responsive to s aid switch control and said electronic circuit for controlling said electronic display.
- 11. A device in accordance with claim 10 wherein said counter is incremented over time.
- 12. A device in accordance with claim 11 wherein said electronic circuit comprises a programmable microcomputer, and said counter is initialized and incremented by said microcomputer.
- 13. A device in accordance with claim 12 wherein said electronic display comprises a liquid crystal display for displaying a character being manipulable responsive to said microcomputer via said switch control and said counter.
- 14. A device in accordance with claim 13 wherein said liquid crystal display is responsive to said microcomputer for displaying the character as an animal which feeds and avoids harm, the displayed animal character being manipulatable by the player's fingers via said switch control for controlling said electronic display.
