Abstract
A hand protection device for protecting cuticles from damage while braiding hair includes a pair of gloves, each of which can be selectively positioned on a respective hand of a user by insertion of the respective hand into an opening positioned in the glove. The glove is removably engaged to the respective hand. Each of a plurality of cutouts is positioned in a respective finger of a respective glove so that each finger of each glove has a cutout positioned therein. The cutouts of each glove allow for protrusion of digits of a respective hand so that cuticles of the digits are covered by the fingers. The gloves protect the cuticles from damage while performing tasks, such as braiding hair.

(g) BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
(1) Field of the Invention

The disclosure relates to protection devices and more particularly pertains to a new protection device for protecting cuticles from damage while braiding hair. The present invention discloses a protection device for the hands comprising a pair of gloves, wherein the gloves cover only the thumb, second digit, and third digit of each hand.

(2) Description of Related Art Including Information Disclosed Under 37 CFR 1.97 and 1.98

The prior art relates to protection devices. The prior art comprises gloves having three or more fingers for covering digits and which leave the fingertips of the digits exposed. What is lacking in the prior art is a protection device for the hands to be used while braiding a person's hair, wherein the gloves cover only the thumb, second digit, and third digit of each hand, while covering the cuticles but leaving the fingertips exposed.

(h) BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a pair of gloves, each of which is configured to be selectively positioned on a respective hand of a user by insertion of the respective hand into an opening positioned in the glove. The glove is removably engaged to the respective hand. Each of a plurality of cutouts is positioned in a respective finger of a respective glove so that each finger of each glove has a cutout positioned therein. The cutouts of each glove are configured for protrusion of digits of a respective hand so that cuticles of the digits are covered by the fingers. The gloves are configured to protect the cuticles from damage while performing tasks, such as braiding hair.

There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.

The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.

(i) BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWING(S)

The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:

FIG. 1 is an isometric perspective view of a hand protection device according to an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 2 is a top view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 3 is a side view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 4 is a side view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 5 is an isometric perspective of an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 6 is a flow diagram of a method utilizing an embodiment of the disclosure.

(j) DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 6 thereof, a new protection device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.

As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 6, the hand protection device 10 generally comprises a pair of gloves 12, each of which is configured to be selectively positioned on a respective hand of a user. The respective hand is inserted into an opening 14 positioned in the glove 12 so that the glove 12 is removably engaged to the respective hand. The gloves 12 are resiliently stretchable so that each glove 12 is configured to fit a shape of a respective hand and to provide compression to the respective hand. The gloves 12 may comprise polyether-polyurea copolymer, or other resiliently stretchable material, such as, but not limited to, polyesters and the like. The gloves 12 also may comprise copper so that the gloves 12 are configured to stimulate circulation of blood and to reduce inflammation.

As shown in FIG. 5, each glove 12 may comprise five fingers 16. Each glove 12 also may comprise three fingers 16, as shown in FIGS. 1-4, so that the glove 12 is positionable over a first digit (thumb), a second digit (index finger), a third digit (middle finger), a portion of a back, and a portion of a palm of a respective hand of the user.

Each of a plurality of cutouts 18 is positioned in a respective finger 16 of a respective glove 12 so that each finger 16 of each glove 12 has a cutout 18 positioned therein, as shown in FIG. 3. The cutouts 18 of each glove 12 are configured for protrusion of digits of a respective hand so that cuticles of the digits are covered by the fingers 16. The gloves 12 are configured to protect the cuticles from damage while performing tasks, such as braiding hair.

In use, the hand protection device 10 enables a method 20 of protecting hands while braiding hair. As shown in FIG. 6, the method 20 comprises a first step 22 of providing a hand protection device 10 according to the specification above. A second step 24 of the method 20 is positioning each glove 12 on an associated hand of a user by insertion of the associated hand into the opening 14 positioned in the glove 12 so that the glove 12 is removably engaged to the associated hand. The cuticles of the digits of the associated hand are covered by the fingers 16 of the glove 12. A third step 26 of the method 20 is braiding hair of a person. A fourth step 28 of the method 20 is removing the gloves 12 from the hands.

With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.

Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
