Abstract
A handle assembly of a luggage includes a handle with inclined faces at opposite ends thereof and two connectors. The luggage is provided with two inclined face in association with the inclined faces of the handle. The handle is provided at an outer side of the luggage while the connectors are provided at an inner side of the luggage to be secured by a plurality of fasteners. Since the directions of the fasteners are oblique to a direction of gripping the handle, the handle assembly has a strong structure.
Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
1. Technical Field

The present invention relates to a luggage, and more particularly to a handle assembly of a luggage.


2. Description of Related Art

Typically, a conventional luggage is provided with a U-shaped handle pivoted on a case. The handle is leaned down on the case normally, and user has to turn it upwards to carry the luggage. A drawback the conventional handle is that it is free to rotate, so that the handle will move unexpectedly when a user move the luggage.


An improved handle of a luggage is made of a flexible material. The improved handle will be attached to a case normally, and a user may grip it outwards to carry the luggage, and the handle will return automatically when the user does not grip it. Such handle is easy to be broken since the handle is moved relative to the case repeatedly.


Another conventional luggage has a recess on a top of a case, in which a handle is provided. Typically, the handle is fixed to the case by screws, and the screws will be loosed after a long time of use of the handle.


BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

In view of the above, the primary objective of the present invention is to provide a handle assembly for a luggage, which fixes the drawback of the conventional handle.


The secondary objective of the present invention is to provide a handle assembly for a luggage, which has a strong structure to be fixed to the luggage.


The third objective of the present invention is to provide a handle assembly for a luggage, which has a light weight and a strong structure.


In order to achieve the objective of the present invention, a handle assembly, which is adapted to be mounted on a case, includes a handle, a first connector, a second connector, and a plurality of fasteners. The handle has a first connecting portion and a second connecting portion at opposite ends thereof. Each of the first connecting portion and the second connecting portion has an inclined face. The first connector having a first connecting face; and the second connector having a second connecting face. The handle is provided at an outer side of the case. The first connector is provided at an inner side of the case with the first connecting face in association with the inclined face of the first connecting portion of the handle; and the second connector is provided at the inner side of the case with the second connecting face in association with the inclined face of the second connecting portion of the handle. The fasteners secure the first connecting face of the first connector and the first connecting portion of the handle to the case, and secure the second connecting face of the second connector and the second connecting portion of the handle to the case.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

As shown in FIG. 1, a luggage has a case 12, and the case is provided with two recesses 14 and 15 at a junction of a front side and an upper side of the case 12 and a junction of the front side and a bottom side of the case 12, respectively. Two handles 20 and 21 are mounted in the recesses 14 and 15. The handles 20 and 21 are the same, so we describe the handle 20 for example only.


As shown in FIG. 2, the case 12 has a first mounting portion 16 at a lateral sidewall of the recess 14 and a second mounting portion 18 at the lateral sidewall opposite to the first mounting portion 16. The first and the second mounting portions 16 and 18 each have an inclined face at an outer side thereof. The handle 20 is a curved strip, having a first connecting portion 22 and a second connecting portion 24 at opposite ends thereof. The first and the second connecting portions 22 and 24 each has an inclined face which fit the inclined faces of the first and the second mounting portions 16 and 18. A first connector 30 has a first connecting face 32, and a second connector 34 has a second connecting face 36.


The handle 20 is mounted in the recess 14 with the first and the second connecting portions 22 and 24 attached to the first and the second mounting portions 16 and 18, respectively. The first and the second connectors 30 and 34 are attached to an interior side of the case 12 while the first connector 30 has the first connecting face 32 attached to an inner side of the first mounting portion 16, and the second connector 34 has the second connecting face 36 attached to an inner side of the second mounting portion 18.


A plurality of fasteners 40 pass through the first connector 30, the first mounting portion 16 of the case 12, and the first connecting portion 22 of the handle 20, and through the second connector 34, the second mounting portion 18 of the case 12, and the second connecting portion 24 of the handle 20 to secure the handle 20 to the case 12.


In other words, the handle 20 and the first connector 30 sandwich the first mounting portion 16 of the case 12 therebetween, and the handle 20 and the second connector 34 sandwich the second mounting portion 18 therebetween.


The inclined faces of the first and the second connecting portions 22 and 24 are sloped toward a bottom of the recess 14 and in opposite directions, and the fasteners 40 are perpendicular to the first and the second connecting portions 22 and 24. As a result, the directions of the fasteners 40 are not parallel to a gripping direction of the handle 20, and not perpendicular either. In other words, there is an acute angle between the fasteners 40 and the gripping direction the handle 20.


As shown in FIG. 3, they are oblique between the fasteners 40 and a direction of gripping the handle 20, so that the fasteners 40 would firmly secure the handle 20, and the handle 20 would have less risk to be separated from the case 12.


As shown in FIG. 4, the handle 20 has a main member 50 and a lid 70. The main member 50 has the first and the second connecting portions 22 and 24 at opposite ends thereof.


The main member 50 has a chamber 52 therein and an opening 54, which is communicated with the chamber 52, at a top thereof. The main member 50 further has a bottom portion 56 at a bottom of the chamber 52 and a flange 58 on a sidewall of the chamber 52 and adjacent to the opening 54. The main member 50 further has a plurality of locking portions 60 on the sidewall of the chamber 52 and under the flange 58. The lid 70 has a plurality of hooks 72.


As shown in FIG. 5, the lid 70 covers the opening 54 of the main member 50, and rests against the flange 58 to be connected to the main member 50 with the hooks 72 engaging the locking portions 60. As a result, the lid 70 is detachably connected to the main member 50.


As shown in FIGS. 4 and 5 again, the main member 50 is provided with a pair of reinforced members 80 in the chamber 52, each of which include a first rib 82 with opposite ends connected to the sidewall of the chamber 52 and a second rib 84 projected from the bottom portion 56 and connected to the first rib 82. The first rib 82 is perpendicular to the second rib 84. The reinforced members 80 provide the handle 20 a strong structure.


It must be pointed out that the embodiments described above are only some preferred embodiments of the present invention. All equivalent structures which employ the concepts disclosed in this specification and the appended claims should fall within the scope of the present invention.

Claims
  • 1. A handle assembly, which is adapted to be mounted on a case, comprising: a handle having a first connecting portion and a second connecting portion at opposite ends thereof, wherein each of the first connecting portion and the second connecting portion has an inclined face;a first connector having a first connecting face;a second connector having a second connecting face;wherein the handle is provided at an outer side of the case; the first connector is provided at an inner side of the case with the first connecting face in association with the inclined face of the first connecting portion of the handle; and the second connector is provided at the inner side of the case with the second connecting face in association with the inclined face of the second connecting portion of the handle; anda plurality of fasteners securing the first connecting face of the first connector and the first connecting portion of the handle to the case, and securing the second connecting face of the second connector and the second connecting portion of the handle to the case.
  • 2. The handle assembly of claim 1, wherein the case has a recess, a first mounting portion at a lateral sidewall of the recess, and a second mounting portion at the lateral sidewall opposite to the first mounting portion; each of the first mounting portion and the second mounting portion has an inclined face in association with the inclined faces of the first connecting portion and the second connecting portion; the handle is received in the recess with the inclined face of the first connecting portion attached to the inclined face of the first mounting portion and the inclined face of the second connecting portion attached to the inclined face of the second mounting portion.
  • 3. The handle assembly of claim 2, wherein the recess is provided at a junction of a front side and an upper side of the case, or at a junction of the front side and a bottom side of the case.
  • 4. The handle assembly of claim 1, wherein the handle has a main member and a lid; the main member has a chamber therein and an opening, which is communicated with the chamber, at a top thereof; the main member further has a bottom portion at a bottom of the chamber and at least a flange on a sidewall of the chamber; the main member further has a plurality of locking portions on the sidewall of the chamber; the lid has a plurality of hooks to engage the locking portions when the lid covers the opening and rests against the flange.
  • 5. The handle assembly of claim 4, wherein the main member includes a first rib with opposite ends connected to the sidewall of the chamber and a second rib projected from the bottom portion and connected to the first rib.
  • 6. The handle assembly of claim 5, wherein the first rib is perpendicular to the second rib.
