Claims
- 1. A garment hanger including a removal-resistant tab, comprising:
- a hanger including a body and a hook member connected to said body;
- a tab holder, formed integrally with said hanger, said tab holder having two opposite sides and a free edge, a first ridge disposed along said free edge and extending from said two opposing sides, and a second ridge extending from said two opposing sides and spaced from said first ridge; and
- a tab including means for rendering said tab resistant to both accidental and intentional manual removal from said tab holder, said tab defining a face member and two opposing sides, each of said two opposing tab sides extending from said face member and terminating in a foremost edge opposite said face member, said opposing tab sides having a rib disposed on the inner surface of each for cooperatively engaging said first ridge to lock said tab to said tab holder, said opposing tab sides extending from said face member sufficiently such that said foremost edges of said opposing tab sides at least border the near side of said second ridge when said ribs cooperatively engage said first ridge;
- said second ridge being configured and dimensioned to obstruct access to said foremost edges of said opposing tab sides and thereby to essentially prevent both accidental and intentional manual removal of said tab from said tab holder;
- said tab holder additionally including an upper end member formed above said first ridge and a lower end member formed below said first ridge;
- said face member and said two opposing sides of said tab forming an upper edge surface and a lower edge surface;
- said upper and lower end members of said tab holder being located relative to said respective upper and lower edge surfaces of said tab such that, when said tab is locked on to said tab holder, said upper and lower end members obstruct access to said respective upper and lower edge surfaces, said upper and lower end members of said tab holder extending substantially the full length of said upper and lower edge surfaces of said tab to preclude a finger purchase on said upper and lower edge surfaces.
- 2. The article of claim 1, wherein said tab holder further comprises means for positioning said tab along said free edge.
- 3. The article of claim 1, wherein said means for positioning adjoin an edge surface of said face member and said two opposing tab sides, when said ribs for cooperatively engaging engage said first ridge, to prevent a finger purchase on said edge surface sufficient to remove said tab from said tab holder.
- 4. The article of claim 2, wherein said means for positioning are spaced apart along said first ridge a distance substantially equal to the distance spanned along said first ridge by said tab.
- 5. The article of claim 2, wherein said second ridge and said means for positioning prevent said tab from being removed from said tab holder.
- 6. The article of claim 1, wherein said tab holder further comprises a second free edge.
- 7. The article of claim 1, wherein said first and second ridges extend from a plane of said tab holder, and said second ridge extends further than said first ridge.
- 8. The article of claim 1, wherein said face member display information.
- 9. The article of claim 1, wherein said opposing tab sides extend synclinally from said face member.
- 10. The article of claim 1 wherein said opposing tab sides are spring-loaded.
- 11. The article of claim 1 wherein said tab holder is located between said hook member and said body.
- 12. The article of claim 1 wherein said foremost edges are bevelled.
- 13. The article of claim 1 wherein the thickness of said face member is not substantially greater than the thickness of either one of said opposing tab sides.
- 14. A garment hanger including a removal-resistant tab, comprising:
- a hanger including a body and a hook member connected to said body;
- a tab holder, formed integrally with said hanger, said tab holder having two opposite sides and a free edge, a first ridge disposed along said free edge and extending from said two opposing sides, and a second ridge means extending from said two opposing sides and spaced from said first ridge; and
- a tab defining a face member and two opposing sides, each of said two opposing tab sides extending from said face member and terminating in a foremost edge opposite said face member, said opposing tab sides having a rib disposed on the inner surface of each for cooperatively engaging said first ridge to lock said tab to said tab holder, said opposing tab sides extending from said face member sufficiently such that said foremost edges of said opposing tab sides at least border the near side of said second ridge means when said ribs cooperatively engage said first ridge;
- said second ridge means being configured and dimensioned to obstruct access to said foremost edges of said opposing tab sides and thereby to essentially prevent both accidental and intentional manual removal of said tab from said tab holder;
- said tab holder additionally including an upper end member formed generally above said first ridge and a lower end member formed generally below said first ridge;
- said face member and said two opposing sides of said tab forming an upper edge surface and a lower edge surface;
- said upper and lower end members of said tab holder being located relative to said respective upper and lower edge surfaces of said tab such that, when said tab is locked on to said tab holder, said upper and lower end members obstruct access to said respective upper and lower edge surfaces, said upper and lower end members of said tab holder extending substantially the full length of said upper and lower edge surfaces of said tab to preclude a finger purchase on said upper and lower edge surfaces.
- 15. The article of claim 14 wherein said second ridge means comprises a continuous ridge.
- 16. The article of claim 14 wherein said second ridge means extend at least partially between said upper and lower end members.
- 17. A garment hanger including a removal-resistant tab, comprising:
- a hanger including a body and a hook member connected to said body;
- a tab holder, formed integrally with said hanger, said tab holder having two opposite sides and a free edge, a first ridge means disposed parallel to said free edge and extending from said two opposing sides, and a second ridge means extending from said two opposing sides and spaced from said first ridge means; and
- a tab defining a face member and two opposing sides, each of said two opposing tab sides extending from said face member and terminating in a foremost edge opposite said face member, at least one of said opposing tab sides having detent means disposed on the inner surface thereof for cooperatively engaging said first ridge means to lock said tab to said tab holder, said opposing tab sides extending from said face member sufficiently such that said foremost edges of said opposing tab sides border the near side of said second ridge means when said ribs cooperatively engage said first ridge means;
- said second ridge means being configured and dimensioned to obstruct access to said foremost edges of said opposing tab sides and thereby to essentially prevent both accidental and intentional manual removal of said tab from said tab holder;
- said tab holder additionally including an upper end member formed generally above said first ridge means and a lower end member formed generally below said first ridge means;
- said face member and said two opposing sides of said tab forming an upper edge surface and a lower edge surface;
- said upper and lower end members of said tab holder being located relative to said respective upper and lower edge surfaces of said tab such that, when said tab is locked on to said tab holder, said upper and lower end members obstruct access to said respective upper and lower edge surfaces, said upper and lower end members of said tab holder extending substantially the full length of said upper and lower edge surfaces of said tab to preclude a finger purchase on said upper and lower edge surfaces.
- 18. The article of claim 17 wherein said second ridge means comprises a continuous ridge.
- 19. The article of claim 17, wherein said second ridge means extend at least partially between said upper and lower end members.
- 20. A garment hanger including a removal-resistant tab, comprising:
- a hanger including a body and a hook member connected to said body;
- a tab holder, formed integrally with said hanger, said tab holder having two opposite sides and a free edge, a first ridge disposed along said free edge and extending from said two opposing sides, an upper end member formed above said first ridge and a lower end member formed below said first ridge; and
- a tab defining a face member and two opposing sides, each of said two opposing tab sides extending from said face member and terminating in a foremost edge opposite said face member, at least one of said opposing tab sides having a rib disposed on the inner surface thereof for engaging said first ridge to lock said tab to said tab holder, said face member and said two opposing tab sides forming an upper edge surface and a lower edge surface, said upper and lower end members of said tab holder being located relative to said respective upper and lower edge surfaces of said tab such that, when said tab is locked on to said tab holder, said upper and lower end members obstruct access to said respective upper and lower edge surfaces, said upper and lower end members of said tab holder extending substantially the full length of said upper and lower edge surfaces of said tab to preclude a finger purchase on said upper and lower edge surfaces;
- thereby to render the hanger resistant to both accidental and intentional manual removal of said tab from said tab holder.
- 21. The hanger of claim 20 wherein said tab holder is located between said hook member and said body.
- 22. The hanger of claim 20 wherein said tab holder has a second ridge extending from said two opposing sides and spaced from said first ridge, said upper end member being formed above said first and second ridges and said lower end member being formed below said first and second ridges, said opposing tab sides extending from said face member sufficiently that said foremost edges of said opposing tab sides at least border the near side of said second ridge means when said ribs cooperatively engage said first ridge, said second ridge means being configured and dimensioned to obstruct access to said foremost edges of said opposing tab sides and thereby to essentially prevent both accidental and intentional manual removal of said tab from said tab holder.
- 23. A garment hanger including a removal-resistant tab, comprising:
- a hanger including a body and a hook member connected to said body;
- a tab holder, formed integrally with said hanger, said tab holder having two opposite sides and a free edge, a first ridge disposed adjacent and along said free edge and extending from said two opposing sides, a second ridge extending from said two opposing sides and spaced from said first ridge, an upper end member formed above said first and second ridges, and a lower end member formed below said first and second ridges; and
- a tab defining a face member and two opposing sides, said face member and said two opposing sides of said tab forming an upper edge surface and a lower edge surface, each of said two opposing tab sides extending from said face member and terminating in a foremost edge opposite said face member, at least one of said opposing tab sides having detent means disposed on the inner surface thereof for engaging said first ridge to lock said tab to said tab holder, said opposing tab sides extending from said face member sufficiently such that said foremost edges of said opposing tab sides at least border the near side of said second ridge when said detent means engages said first ridge;
- said upper and lower end members of said tab holder being located relative to said respective upper and lower edge surfaces of said tab such that, when said tab is locked on to said tab holder, said upper and lower end members obstruct access to any portion of said respective upper and lower edges surfaces, said upper and lower end members of said tab holder extending substantially the full length of said upper and lower edge surfaces of said tab to preclude a finger purchase on said upper and lower edge surfaces;
- said second ridge being configured and dimensioned to obstruct access to said foremost edges of said opposing tab sides and thereby to essentially prevent both accidental and intentional manual removal of said tab from said tab holder.
- 24. The hanger of claim 23 wherein said foremost edges are bevelled.
