This invention relates to hangers, and more particularly, to a device and a method for using a hanger for garments of the type having a “cold-shoulder”, “off the shoulder” and/or “open shoulder” look for shirts, tops, sweaters, dresses, jackets, lingerie, bathing suits, exercise clothes.
Traditional hangers are fine for most clothing garments. The typical clothes hangers used to hold clothing items are all, in their most simple conformation, made of a rigid, arch/wing shaped structure equipped with a central hook, which terminates with a substantially round shape on both sides. Unfortunately, traditional hangers will eliminate the visibility of the “cold-shoulder”, “off the shoulder” and/or “open shoulder” style clothing in the closet and/or on a rack, when a user is looking for a particular style or type of clothing. Additionally, traditional hanger's can result in the “cold-shoulder”, “off the shoulder” and/or “open shoulder” style clothing falling off the hanger to the floor, and losing the shoulder/sleeve shape.
However, the present invention has as its primary object to visually show the “open shoulder” style on the hanger. The “open shoulder” style of clothing is known as “cold-shoulder” and/or “off the shoulder” look.
From applicants' perspective known hangers for garments of the type having a “cold-shoulder” and/or “off the shoulder” look for shirts, tops, sweaters, dresses, and jackets all exhibit less than desired garment visibility and retention on the hanger. As such, therein the need in the art for a new and improved hanger that can provide the desired garment visibility and retention capacity and shoulder/sleeve shape.
Traditional hangers having an arch/wing portion do not derive or provide any benefit for “cold-shoulder” and/or “off the shoulder” shoulder/sleeve retention, since the arms of the garment hang downward with gravity and provide no visibility for a user to quickly and easily visibly see which clothing items have a “cold-shoulder” and/or “off the shoulder” look. As such, therein the need in the art for a new and improved hanger that provides visibility for a user to quickly and easily identify which clothes items have a “cold-shoulder” and/or “off the shoulder” look.
Furthermore traditional hangers having arch/wing portions do not afford the hanger seller the facility for retention of “cold-shoulder” and/or “off the shoulder” by providing a plurality of notches on each side of the wing for retention of the garment and for a more esthetically pleasing display of the garment. As such, therein the need in the art for a new and improved hanger that provides a plurality of notches on each side of the wing for retention of the garment and for a more esthetically pleasing display of “cold-shoulder”, “off the shoulder”, and “open shoulder” garments.
The present invention concerns a hanger of the type provided with a hanger body having an arch/wing portions for suspension extending from the hanger hook for suspending the hanger from a support, wherein the wings have at least two notches, an upper notch and a lower notch on each side of the hanger for retaining “cold-shoulder”, “off the shoulder” and/or “open shoulder” garments on the hanger.
A further object of the present invention in the preferred embodiment is to achieve a hanger of the type equipped with at least two notches, an upper notch and a lower notch on each side of the hanger, wherein the lower notch is equipped with teeth for gripping material inserted into the notch for retention of the clothing to visually display the “cold-shoulder”, “off the shoulder” and/or “open shoulder” look on the hanger.
Such hangers comprise wing portions extending generally horizontally from the central portion, each wing portion having at least two notches, an upper notch and a lower notch on each side of the wing for holding “cold-shoulder” and/or “off the shoulder” garments, wherein the material from the clothing is slipped into two or more notches and where two or more of the notches are equipped with teeth for gripping the clothing after it is insert into the notches for retention of the clothing to visuallyly display the “cold-shoulder”, “off the shoulder” and/or “open shoulder” look.
In this respect, the present invention substantially departs from the conventional concepts and designs of the prior art. While numerous other attempts at improved hangers have been made, none provide for the visually hanging of garments of the type having a “cold-shoulder”, “off the shoulder” and/or “open shoulder” look for shirts, tops, sweaters, dresses, and jackets. As such, a need for an improved hanger therefore exists.
An object of the present invention is to provide a hanging device and method for use of a hanger for garments of the type having a “cold-shoulder”, “off the shoulder” and/or “open shoulder” look for shirts, tops, sweaters, dresses, and jackets to provide quick and easy visual access in finding those type of garments in a user's closet.
The present invention has as its primary object to visually show this fashion style and help visually show garments of the type having a “cold-shoulder”, “off the shoulder” and/or “open shoulder” look for shirts, tops, sweaters, dresses, and jackets on the hanger.
It is an object of the invention is to provide hangers having at least two notches, an upper notch and a lower notch on each side of the hanger.
It is also an object of the invention to provide hangers having at least two notches on each side of the hanger, wherein the higher notch holds the neckline of the garment.
It is a further object of the invention to provide hangers having at least two notches on each side of the hanger, wherein the lower notch holds the top of the sleeve to secure the garment on the hanger and maintaining the shoulder/sleeve shape.
A more particular object of the invention is to provide hangers having at least two notches, an upper notch and a lower notch on each side of the hanger, and wherein two or more of the notches are equipped with teeth for gripping the clothing after it is insert into the notches, and wherein the higher notch holds the neckline of the garment and the lower notch holds the top of the sleeve to secure the garment on the hanger to visually show the “cold-shoulder”, “off the shoulder” and/or “open shoulder” look of the garments.
It is an object of the invention to provide hangers that visually show the shoulder-cut out style of clothing on the hanger.
It is an object of the invention to eliminate the invisibility of the “cold-shoulder” and/or “off the shoulder” style clothing in the closet and/or on a rack, when a user is looking for a particular style and/or type of clothing on a traditional hanger.
It is an object of the invention to eliminate the problem with a traditional hanger that can result in the “cold-shoulder” and/or “off the shoulder” style clothing falling off the hanger to the floor.
It is an object of the invention to protect the “cold-shoulder” and/or “off the shoulder” style clothing from getting the shoulder/sleeve misshaped and/or ruined by traditional metal hangers and/or flocked/velvet material hangers.
It is also an object of the invention to hold this style garment on the hanger and keep the shape of the “cold-shoulder” and/or “off the shoulder” style clothing while on the hanger.
It is an object of the invention to provide a hanger that lets “cold-shoulder” and/or “off the shoulder” style be visible on the hanger for ease of finding the garment in the closet and/or on the rack.
It is an object of the invention to provide a hanger having two notches on each side of the hanger, and at least one notches on each side which is equipped with teeth, so as to not allow the garment to fall on the floor as clothes are pushed into the closet, or slid side to side on a rack.
It is an object of the invention in one alternative embodiment to provide a hanger having one notches on each side of the hanger near the end portion of each side of the hanger, and the notches on each side are equipped with one or more teeth to grip the top of the sleeve of the garment, when the garment is inserted into the teeth of the hanger to hold the garment on the hanger.
It is an object of the invention in yet another alternative embodiment to provide a hanger having two notches on each side of the hanger, an upper notch and a lower notch, and the lower notches on each side is equipped with teeth to grip the top of the garment's sleeve to hold it onto the hanger.
It is an object of the invention in an alternative embodiment to provide a hanger having two notches on each side of the hanger, an upper notch and a lower notch, and the upper notches holds the neckline.
It is an object of the invention in the preferred embodiment to provide a hanger having two notches on each side of the hanger, an upper notch and a lower notch, the upper notches on each side holds the neckline, and the lower notches on each side is equipped with teeth to grip the top of the garment' s sleeve.
It is an object of the invention to provide a hanger that may also be used to hang any other garments including but not limited to: off the shoulder tops and dresses, one should tops and dresses, tops, dresses, classic blouses, sweaters, shirts, jackets, robes, nightgowns, bras, and exercise tops.
It is an object of the invention to provide a hanger having at least two notches having teeth for gripping the clothing after it is insert into the notches for retention of the clothing to visually display the “cold-shoulder” and/or “off the shoulder” look.
It is an object of the invention to provide a hanger having two high notches for holding the neckline of the garment.
It is also an object of the invention is to provide hangers having improved notch for the retention of the shoulder straps of the garments hung therefrom.
The preferred embodiments of the present invention seeks to overcome the above disadvantages of the prior art as well as improve the visual presentation of the garment.
It is yet another object of the invention to provide an invention that is easy to manufacture, simple to assemble, reliable in operation, and inexpensive to produce.
Other objects, features and advantages of the invention will become apparent in light of the following description thereof.

In an alternative embodiment of the invention, a garment hanger comprising a hanger body, and hanger hook for suspending said hanger from a support, wherein said hanger body has two notches on each side of the hanger body, an upper notch and a lower notch on each side of the hanger, and wherein said upper notch on each side has one or more teeth for gripping a clothing material inserted into said notches from a clothing garment.

A method of utilizing a garment hanger for holding a clothing garment comprising the following steps: providing a garment hanger comprising a hanger body, and a hanger hook for suspending said hanger from a support, wherein said hanger body has at least four notches, wherein at least two notches are positioned on each side of the hanger body, and wherein at least one notch on each side has one or more teeth for gripping a clothing material inserted into said notches from a clothing garment;
wherein a user elects to hang a clothing garment having an open shoulder style on said hanger, said open shoulder's neckline is inserted into an upper notch on each side of the hanger, and the top of the sleeves' of the open shoulder style are inserted into a lower notch on each side, and prevent said clothing garment from falling off the hanger;
wherein a user elects to hang a clothing garment having a “cold-shoulder” look, wherein the cold shoulder's neckline is inserted into the upper notch on each side of the hanger, and the top of the sleeves' of the cold shoulder look are inserted into the lower notch on each side, and prevent said clothing garment from falling off the hanger; and
wherein a user elects to hang a clothing garment having an “off the shoulder” look, wherein the top of the sleeves of the off the shoulder look are inserted into the lower notch on each side, and prevent said clothing garment from falling off the hanger.
Wherein said notch on each side having one or more teeth are positioned in said lower notch on each side of said hanger body. Wherein said notch on each side having one or more teeth is positioned in said upper notch on each side of said hanger body.
Wherein said notch on each side has two teeth positioned in said lower notch on each side of said hanger body. Wherein said notch on each side has two teeth is positioned in said upper notch on each side of said hanger body.
