The present invention is generally related to suit bags, and more particular to a suit bag for hanging in a closet or on a rack and storing multiple suits
A multi-suit bag capable of storing multiple suits or dresses provides protection to clothing when clothes are transported. When used in a closet, it provides organization or additional protection. When hung on an open rack, an additional clothing storage is created. A conventional multi-suit bag is made of a robust and flexible fabric enclosing a storage space. Inside the suit bag, the storage space can be further separated into a number of compartments. The top of the multi-suit bag is usually configured with holes for hanging on hooks or on a rail in a closet or on a wall. Velcro straps are also used for fastening the multi-suit bag on the rail.
Since the multi-suit bag is made of a soft fabric, some rigid object (such as some hard plate, a metallic frame, etc.) is configured inside the multi-suit bag so as to prop up the fabric and create the storage space. This addition of rigid object complicates the structure and increase the production cost of the multi-suit bag.
Therefore, a novel frameless multi-suit bag is provided herein to obviate the shortcoming of the prior art.
The gist of the present invention is that a hanging rod for the multi-suit bag runs directly through the multi-suit bag. As such, the hanging rod can be used to hang suits and dresses which prop up the multi-suit bag. The structure of the multi-suit bag is therefore simplified and the production cost is reduced.
According to the present invention, the multi-suit bag contains a wardrobe member made of a soft fabric material enclosing a storage space. The wardrobe member has an elongated opening along a top side, a first top piece having a top edge that forms a first longer edge of the opening, a second top piece having a top edge that forms a second longer edge of the opening, and an elongated cover element having a second longer edge attaching to the top edge of the second top piece. Both the first top piece's top edge and a first longer edge of the cover element are configured with a fastener. A number of supporting pieces and one or more top pieces are configured inside the cover element so as to enhance the cover element's strength. By receiving the hanging rod by the opening, flipping the cover element over the hanging rod, and closing the fastener, the multi-suit bag is quickly and conveniently hanged over the hanging rod.
Preferably, the cover element is shaped to have an elongated chamber with a C-like cross-section. The support pieces are configured inside the chamber of the cover element and the support pieces prop up the shape of the cover element.
Preferably, each support piece is a plate of an appropriate thickness so as to provide the required strength.
Preferably, each top piece is configured between two support pieces so that the top pieces can be folded against each other.
Preferably, the fastener is a zipper or another kind of separable fastener.
Preferably, a cable is extended from each lateral side of the wardrobe member so that, by fastening the cable to the hanging rod, the multi-suit bag is prevented from sliding along the hanging rod.
The multi-suit bag of the present invention utilizes an existing hanging rod for hanging suits and dresses in the multi-suit bag, thereby achieving a frameless suit bag with reduced production cost and enhanced efficiency in assembly and disassembly. When not in use, the multi-suit bag can also be conveniently folded and stored.
The foregoing objectives and summary provide only a brief introduction to the present invention. To fully appreciate these and other objects of the present invention as well as the invention itself, all of which will become apparent to those skilled in the art, the following detailed description of the invention and the claims should be read in conjunction with the accompanying drawings. Throughout the specification and drawings identical reference numerals refer to identical or similar parts.
Many other advantages and features of the present invention will become manifest to those versed in the art upon making reference to the detailed description and the accompanying sheets of drawings in which a preferred structural embodiment incorporating the principles of the present invention is shown by way of illustrative example.
The following descriptions are exemplary embodiments only, and are not intended to limit the scope, applicability or configuration of the invention in any way. Rather, the following description provides a convenient illustration for implementing exemplary embodiments of the invention. Various changes to the described embodiments may be made in the function and arrangement of the elements described without departing from the scope of the invention as set forth in the appended claims.
As shown in
To remove the multi-suit bag, the cables 2 are un-tied and the fastener 3 is un-zipped. The hanging rod 4 is as such detached from the confinement of the cover element 121 and the first top piece 11. For the multi-suit bag removed from the hanging rod 4, if there are multiple top pieces 123, the top pieces 123 can be folded together so as to reduce the multi-suit bag to a smaller size for easier storage.
While certain novel features of this invention have been shown and described and are pointed out in the annexed claim, it is not intended to be limited to the details above, since it will be understood that various omissions, modifications, substitutions and changes in the forms and details of the device illustrated and in its operation can be made by those skilled in the art without departing in any way from the spirit of the present invention.
