Claims
- 1. A hazardous liquid containment structure comprising the combination of:
- a. a tray having:
- (1) a base;
- (2) substantially vertical side walls entirely surrounding the base to form a containment pan with their upper edges lying in a common plane;
- (3) a pair of parallel, transverse grooves formed by indentations molded in the bottom wall of said base, spaced apart a sufficient distance and of a sufficient width to receive therein the fork members of a fork lift;
- b. a pallet support member resting within said tray and comprising:
- (1) at least one support member received within said tray and resting on the bottom wall of said base; and
- (2) a platform member supported by said support member and resting thereon to form a platform substantially at the level of said plane, thereby providing support for a storage pallet adjacent to or above said plane.
- 2. The structure of claim 1 wherein said support member is comprises a pair of wooden beams with spaced-apart notches along the lower edges thereof to receive said grooves of said base.
- 3. The structure of claim 1 in further combination with a pallet having top and bottom floors spaced apart by transverse beams received and resting on said platform and permit the insertion of the forks of a fork lift between the top and bottom floors of said pallet.
- 4. The structure of claim 3 in further combination with at least one container of a hazardous liquid resting on the upper surface of said pallet.
- 5. The structure of claim 1 wherein said tray is formed by thermoforming of sheet plastic.
- 6. The structure of claim 1 wherein said tray has a storage capacity from 55 to 100 gallons.
- 7. The structure of claim 1 wherein said side walls are slightly tapered upwardly and outwardly, whereby a plurality of said trays can be stacked in a nested array.
- 8. The structure of claim 6 wherein said side walls are inclined outwardly at an angle from 3 to about 10 degrees from the vertical.
- 9. The structure of claim 1 wherein said side walls have an coextensive, upper outwardly directed lip having a downwardly curled edge.
- 10. The structure of claim 1 wherein said reinforcement ribs comprise inward indentations molded into said bottom wall of said base.
- 11. The hazardous liquid containment structure of claim 1 wherein the tray further comprises:
- a plurality of reinforcement ribs transverse to said grooves.
- 12. The hazardous liquid containment structure of claim 1 wherein said pallet support member is liftable out of said tray, when not in use, to permit a plurality of said trays to be stacked one within another in a nested array.
