Claims
- 1. A video system, comprising:
- an imaging system for generating video signals representative of an object comprising night vision equipment for generating said video signals representative of an image in low light ambient conditions;
- receiver means remotely located from said imaging system for receiving video signals;
- a video signal transmission link operating between said imaging system and said receiver means;
- a vacuum fluorescent video display coupled to said receiver means for displaying a visual representation of the object; and
- means removably attachable to a person's head, including means for mounting thereto said video display in a position such that the person can view the display without the use of the person's hands and such that the person can move about in a substantially unrestricted manner.
- 2. The video system of claim 1 wherein said transmission link comprises a transmission medium operating with a wavelength between short ultraviolet and far infrared.
- 3. The self-contained video system of claim 2 wherein the wavelength is between 0.9 and 1.9 um.
- 4. The video system of claim 3 wherein said wavelength is about 1.39 microns.
- 5. A self-contained video system for use by a foot soldier, comprising:
- an imaging system for generating video signals representative of an object;
- a video display;
- a transmission link for transmitting images of an object between said imaging system and said video display, said transmission link comprising a transmission medium operating with a wavelength between 0.9 and 1.9 microns; and
- means for removably attaching said imaging system and said video display to the head of a person.
- 6. The self-contained video system of claim 5 wherein said wavelength is about 1.39 microns.
