The disclosure relates to hearing garments and more particularly pertains to a new hearing garment for enhancing a user's ability to hear. The device includes a hat and a pair of ear cups that each extends downwardly on opposite sides of the hat from each other. Each of the ear cups is curved to curve around the back of the user's ears for reflecting sound coming from in front of the user towards the user's ears. The device includes a pair of wires each integrated into a respective ear cup for shaping the respective ear cup.
The prior art relates to hearing garments including a variety of passive and active hearing enhancement devices that are insertable into a user's ears. In no instance does the prior art disclose a cap that is wearable on a user's head which has a pair of ear cups that curve around each of the user's ears for reflecting sound into the user's ears.
An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a hat that can be worn on a user's head. A pair of ear cups is attached to and extends downwardly from the hat. Each of the pair of ear cups is positioned on opposing sides of the hat with respect to each other to extend behind a respective one of the user's ears when the user wears the hat. Each of the ear cups is curved forwardly thereby enhancing the user's ability to hear sounds emanating from in front of the user when the user is wearing the hat. A pair of wires is each integrated into a respective one of the pair of ear cups to facilitate each of the pair of ear cups to be shaped to conform to the user's ears.
There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
As best illustrated in
A pair of ear cups 26 is each attached to and extends downwardly from the gore 14 and each of the pair of ear cups 26 is positioned on opposing sides of the gore 14 with respect to each other. Furthermore, the pair of ear cups 26 extends behind a respective one of the user's ears 28 when the user 30 wears the hat 12. Each of the ear cups 26 is curved toward the brim 16 to reflect sound traveling from brim 16 toward the pair of ear cups 26. In this way the pair of ear cups 26 enhances the user's 30 ability to hear sounds emanating from in front of the user 30 when the user 30 is wearing the hat 12.
Each of the ear cups 26 has a first edge 32, a second edge 34 and a forward surface 36 extending between the first edge 32 and the second edge 34. Each of the first edge 32 and the second edge 34 of a respective one of the ear cups 26 intersects each other at a respective first end 38 and second end 40 of the respective ear cup 26. Additionally, each of the first edge 32 and the second edge 34 of the respective ear cup 26 curves outwardly in opposing directions from each other from a center of the respective ear cup 26 such that the respective ear cup 26 has a leaf shape. The first edge 32 of each of the pair of ear cups 26 has a coupled portion 42 that is positioned adjacent the first end 38. The coupled portion 42 of the first edge 32 of each of the pair of ear cups 26 is coupled to the lower edge 22 of the gore 14 such that the first edge 32 of each of the pair of ear cups 26 curves downwardly from the lower edge 22 of the gore 14. In this way the first edge 32 of each of the pair of ear cups 26 curves behind the respective user's ear 28 when the user 30 wears the hat 12.
The second end 40 of each of the pair of ear cups 26 is directed toward the brim 16. Furthermore, the forward surface 36 of each of the pair of ear cups 26 is concavely arcuate between the first edge 32 and the second edge 34. In this way the forward surface 36 of each of the pair of ear cups 26 can focus sound toward the respective user's ear 28 when the user 30 wears the hat 12. Thus, the user 30 can clearly hear words spoken at an outdoor theater performance, for example, or any other situation where the user might struggle to clearly hear a performance or event.
A pair of wires 44 is each integrated into a respective one of the pair of ear cups 26. Each of the pair of wires 44 is comprised of a bendable material thereby facilitating each of the pair of ear cups 26 to be shaped. In this way the pair of wires 44 facilitates each of the pair of ear cups 26 to be shaped to conform to the user's ears 28. Each of the pair of wires 44 follows along a full length of the second edge 34 of the respective ear cup 26.
In use, the user 30 wears the hat 12 such that each of the ear cups 26 curves behind the user's respective ear 28. In this way each of the ear cups 26 directs sound that emanates from in front of the user 30 into the user's ears 28. Furthermore, each of the wires 44 facilitates each of the ear cups 26 to be shaped into a preferred orientation to maximize the sound directed into the user's ears 28. In this way the user 30 can clearly hear the sounds the emanate from in front of the user 30 even when the user 30 is exposed to distracting levels of ambient noise.
With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, garment and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
