Abstract
An electrically-heated hair curling appliance includes housing having a transparent lid covering a base member mounting a plurality of miniature sized heating posts, each arranged to mount and heat a miniature curler. The interior heating is accomplished by means of heated, mounted tubular rods on which the curlers are supported, connected to a central heating element. Placed over each rod is a miniature curler measuring ¾ inch in diameter and 3½ inches long. In an example, two rows of rods are provided to receive the curlers and arranged in heart-shaped rows. Curlers are configured with a metal interior defining a thermal interface with the heater rods. Heat is efficiently transferred outwardly from the heaters through the heater rods to the metal interior of each hair curler. No part of the heater is exposed to dissipate heat so that substantially all heat generated by each heater is transferred to each corresponding hair curler.

2. Description of the Prior Art

Beauty salons and department stores and drugstores commonly supply consumers with electric hair setters for setting the hair. Originally these electric hair curlers have only a few sizes each of small curlers in them. Thereafter inventors created several types of electric hair curlers, but none of them have enough of small curlers to set the whole head of hair. You have to wait or reheat curlers many time to finish setting hair or you have to have three sets of curlers which takes up lots of space. An example of a hair roller set as described above is shown in U.S. Pat. No. 3,540,457 issued to Solomon and to U.S. Pat. No. 4,630,622 issued to Foreman.

BACK OF INVENTION—OBJECTS AND ADVANTAGES

Accordingly besides the objects and advantages of my electric hair curlers

    • A. This invention is a set of electric hair curlers which can be produced in a variety of colors
    • B. To provide a heart-shaped electric hair curler set with 40 curlers of ¾ of an inch diameter and 3½ inches long

To provide a heart-shaped electric curler set which is beautiful and very unique in size and colors, a bow lid on top, and four unique legs to stand on. As observed by the Bureau of Industrial Economics US Department of Commerce in the 1984 U.S. Industrial Outlook, the versatility of plastic materials is responsible for much of their growth in competition with metal, wood, paper, and glass. Many of these traditional materials have been gradually replaced by plastics. This heart-shaped electric hair setter can be made out of plastic, which offers improved properties, often at lower costs for many applications.

Plastics can be produced with the physical and chemical properties required to fulfill the special product needs of many industries. Also, plastics are readily adaptable to high output processing methods such as injection molding. Polypropylene would be one possible plastic that could be used. Polypropylene can be in various degrees of rigidity processed very well flexural strength, and it is easily processed in most manufacturing methods used in the Plastics Industry. The unit housing and bow handle 1b could be produced through a vacuum forming process.

Thermoplastic sheets are first heated until they are soft enough to be easily shaped. They are then forced into the desired shape by vacuum or suction forming over male or female molds. Still further objects and advantages will become apparent from a consideration of the ensuing description and drawings, in the production of the area of this invention.

SUMMARY

In accordance with the present invention an object of the invention is to provide an electric curling hairsetter with 40 small curlers. A base plate supports 40 tubular rods in compact staggered arrangement. To provide a new and improved hair curling heating appliance of energy efficient design.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

The invention will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

Referring more particularly to FIGS. 1 through 4 in the drawings, FIG. 1 the apparatus includes the casing that is provided with a transparent lid showing bow handle 1b. The heart-shaped apparatus in the plan is formed of a thermoplastic resin, such as polyethylene or toughened polyproysylen, injection-molded to provide unit housing on the lid 6 where a trademark may be applied. FIG. 2 is a plan view of the hair curler set. FIGS. 2 and 4 show each curling roller 1b supported on the base casing 3 which includes plurality of openings through which curlers are inserted to engage heating posts, projecting from a base plate mounted to the lower housing. Household alternating current is provided through a standard line cord 5, feeding power to the hair setter. 2 of the clip storage is an apparatus suitable for storing clips for hair curlers. The base casing 3 has an indicator light 4 to indicate a heating event in association with a thermostat of the apparatus. Four cylindrical legs 7 are disposed at the bottom of the base casing 3.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

This invention is a set of electric hair curlers to be used by either beauty salons or for home use. The set of curlers will include forty (40) curlers approximately ¾″ in diameter and approximately 3½″ in length, non-graduated sizes, which is completely different from any hair curling set on the market today. Most electric hair curler sets today have only fourteen to twenty curlers in them. The curler set will be enclosed in a plastic casing with a colored plastic bow-shaped handle on the top.

The unit has a heart-shaped plastic base with twenty-three curler receptacles around the outer edge, seventeen curler receptacles forming an inner heart, and a central heart-shaped clip storage case that has its own small heart-shaped lid and a small rectangular plastic handle on the top. Each curler receptacle contains a tubular rod that is connected to a central heating element. Placed over each rod is a miniature curler measuring approximately ¾ of an inch in diameter and 3½ inches long.

The base of the unit has four cylindrical brass legs. This set also has an electrical cord, with a three-prong grounding plug, that is to be plugged into any standard outlet.

To use this electrically-heated hair curler set, simply plug the cord into an electrical outlet and allow the curlers to heat. An indicator light on the front part of the base will turn on after a designated length of time, when the curlers are ready to use. The curlers can be removed one at a time and used to roll sections of hair on the head. The curlers can be secured on the sections of hair using curler clips, which can be taken as needed from the convenient clip storage case in the center of the unit.
