Claims
- 1. A method of forming a heat strengthened, electrically conductive coated glass article comprising:a) providing a glass substrate; b) depositing a barrier layer on said glass substrate; c) depositing a substantially undoped metal oxide coating on said barrier layer, said substantially undoped metal oxide coating being distinct from said barrier layer; d) depositing a doped metal oxide coating directly on said substantially undoped metal oxide coating, wherein the source metal from which the oxides of the substantially undoped and doped coatings are derived is the same; e) heating said coated glass article to within a specified temperature range; and f) cooling said coated glass article to ambient temperature in a controlled manner.
- 2. The method of claim 1, wherein said coated glass article is heated for a time and to a temperature such that the surface compressive stress is greater than 3500 psi.
- 3. The method of forming the heat strengthened electrically conductive glass article of claim 1 wherein the coated glass article is heated for a time between 100 and 200 seconds at a temperature of between 650° C. and 750° C.
- 4. The method of forming the heat strengthened electrically conductive glass article of claim 1 wherein said doped metal oxide coating uses fluorine as the dopant.
- 5. The method of forming the heat strengthened electrically conductive coated glass article of claim 1 wherein after heat strengthening, the conductive glass article has a sheet resistance of at least 232 ohms per square.
- 6. The method of forming the heat strengthened electrically conductive glass article of claim 1 wherein said barrier layer comprises silica.
