Claims
- 1. A mercaptopyridine-1-oxide compound having the following structural formula: ##STR10## wherein R is selected from the group consisting of the acyl radical R.sub.o C.dbd.O and the alkoxycarbonyl radical R.sub.o OC.dbd.O, where R.sub.O is a C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, aryl selected from the class consisting of phenyl, naphthyl, aralkyl where said alkyl portion has 1-6 carbons and halobenzyl; R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are each independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, methyl, two of said terms may represent methoxy and the other hydrogen, one of said terms may represent ethyl, n-butyl, methoxy, ethoxy, phenyl, bromophenyl, chlorophenyl, trichlorophenyl, naphthyl, chlorobenzyl, dichlorobenzyl or furyl and the other two terms represent hydrogen; M is a mono-, di-, or trivalent metal selected from the group consisting of zinc, manganese, chromium, iron, copper, tungsten and nickel, and n is a whole number from 1 to 3.
- 2. A compound according to claim 1 wherein R is a C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 acyl radical.
- 3. A compound according to claim 1 wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are all hydrogen.
- 4. A compound according to claim 1 wherein R is C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkoxycarbonyl.
- 5. A compound according to claim 3 wherein R is CH.sub.3 C.dbd.O, M is zinc and n is 2.
- 6. A compound according to claim 3 wherein R is C.sub.2 H.sub.5 OC.dbd.O, M is zinc and n is 2.
