Claims
- 1. A device for sewing a fabric, comprising:
- a sewing machine;
- means for sequentially transporting a plurality of fabrics towards the sewing machine, and initiating sewing of each fabric by the sewing machine;
- means for moving a sewn fabric away from the sewing machine;
- means for delaying the moving means upon completion of sewing of a first fabric by the sewing machine; and
- means responsive to movement of a subsequent fabric by the transporting means towards the sewing machine to initiate the moving means to move the sewn fabric away from the sewing machine and initiate sewing of the subsequent fabric.
- 2. The device of claim 1 wherein the initiating means comprises means for sensing the transport of the subsequent fabric towards the sewing machine.
- 3. The device of claim 1 including elongated belt means for moving the fabric towards the sewing machine, means for driving the belt means, and means for removing at least a portion of the belt means from the path of the subsequent fabric during movement of the subsequent fabric towards the sewing machine by the transporting means.
- 4. The device of claim 3 including means for placing the belt means into engagement with the subsequent fabric upon initiation of sewing of the subsequent fabric.
- 5. The device of claim 1 including means for moving the subsequent fabric towards the sewing machine, and means for initiating at least a portion of the subsequent fabric moving means during movement of the subsequent fabric toward the sewing machine by the transporting means.
- 6. The device of claim 5 including means for engaging the subsequent fabric moving means against the subsequent fabric upon initiation of sewing of the subsequent fabric.
- 7. The device of claim 1 including a support plate for the subsequent fabric, a plurality of longitudinally extending and laterally spaced endless belts, means for rotatably supporting and driving said belts, and means for moving at least a portion of the belts in the region of the subsequent fabric between a first inactive position beneath the support plate during movement of the subsequent fabric toward the sewing machine by the transporting means, and a second position above the support plate in engagement with the subsequent fabric upon initiation of sewing of the subsequent fabric.
- 8. The device of claim 7 wherein at least a portion of the belts are located above the support plate and comprise the sewn fabric moving means.
- 9. A device for sewing a fabric, comprising:
- a sewing machine;
- means for sequentially transporting a plurality of fabrics toward the sewing machine, and initiating sewing of each fabric by the sewing machine; and
- means for stopping movement of the transporting means bringing a subsequent fabric towards the sewing machine while the sewing machine is sewing a previous fabric, including elongated belt means for moving the fabric towards the sewing machine, means for driving the belt means, and means for removing at a least a portion of the belt means from the path of the subsequent fabric during stopping of the transporting means.
- 10. The device of claim 9 wherein the stopping means includes means for sensing transport of the subsequent fabric towards the sewing machine.
- 11. The device of claim 9 including means for placing the belt means in engagement with the subsequent fabric upon initiation of sewing of the subsequent fabric.
- 12. The device of claim 9 including means for moving the subsequent fabric towards the sewing machine, and means for inhibiting at least a portion of the moving means during stopping of the transporting means.
- 13. The device of claim 12 including means for engaging the moving means against the subsequent fabric upon initiation of sewing of the subsequent fabric.
- 14. A device for sewing a fabric, comprising:
- a sewing machine;
- means for sequentially transporting a plurality of fabrics toward the sewing machine, and initiating sewing of each fabric by the sewing machine; and
- means for stopping movement of the transporting means bringing a subsequent fabric towards the sewing machine while the sewing machine is sewing a previous fabric, including a support plate for the subsequent fabric, a plurality of longitudinally extending and laterally spaced endless belts, means for rotatably supporting and driving said belts, and means for moving at least a portion of the belts in the region of the subsequent fabric between a first inactive position beneath the support plate during stopping of the transporting means, and a second position above the support plate in engagement with the subsequent fabric upon initiation of sewing of the subsequent fabric.
- 15. The device of claim 14 wherein at least a portion of the belts are located above the support plate downstream of the sewing machine.
