Claims
- 1. A herbicidal composition comprising an active halo acetanilide herbicide compound and a non-phytotoxic antidotally effective amount of a compound having the formula ##STR323## where each of R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are alkenyl groups containing from 2 to 12 carbon atoms, inclusive; said compound being antidotally active with said halo acetanilide herbicide compound and wherein said compound is present in an amount ranging between about 0.0001 to 30 parts by weight for each part by weight of the active herbicidal compound.
- 2. A herbicidal composition comprising an active halo acetanilide herbicide compound and an herbicidally effective amount of an antidote compound have the formula ##STR324## wherein said antidote compound is present in an amount ranging between about 0.0001 to 30 parts by weight for each part by weight of the active herbicidal compound.
- 3. The herbicidal composition as set forth in claim 1 wherein said active halo acetanilide is selected from the group consisting of 2-chloro-2',6'-diethyl-N-(methoxy-methyl) acetanilide or 2-chloro-N-isopropylacetanilide.
- 4. The method of controlling weed pests and protecting crop plants comprising adding to the habitat thereof an herbicidally effective amount of the composition as set forth in claim 1.
- 5. The method of controlling weed pests and protecting crop plants comprising adding to the habitat thereof an herbicidally effective amount of the composition as set forth in claim 2.
- 6. The method of protecting a plant crop from injury due to an active halo acetanilide herbicidal compound, comprising applying to the soil, in which an herbicidally effective amount of said active halo acetanilide herbicidal compound is used, a non-phytotoxic antidotally effective amount of a compound corresponding to the formula ##STR325## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are alkenyl groups containing from 2 to 12 carbon atoms, inclusive; said compound being antidotally active with said acetanilide herbicide compound.
- 7. The method according to claim 6 wherein each of R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are --CH.sub.2 --CH.dbd.CH.sub.2.
- 8. The herbicidal composition as set forth in claim 2 wherein said active acetanilide is selected from the group consisting of 2-chloro-2',6'-diethyl-N-(methoxymethyl) acetanilide or 2-chloro-N-isopropyl acetanilide.
- 9. The method of protecting a plant crop from injury due to the herbicidally active halo acetanilide compound comprising applying to the soil a herbicidal composition, comprising an herbicidally effective amount of said active halo acetanilide compound and a non-phytotoxic antidotally effective amount of a compound having the formula ##STR326## wherein each of R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are alkenyl groups containing from 2 to 12 carbon atoms, inclusive; said compound being antidotally active with said active acetanilide compound and wherein said compound is present in an amount ranging between about 0.0001 to 30 parts by weight for each part by weight of the herbicidally active acetanilide.
- 10. The method of protecting a plant crop from injury due to the herbicidally active halo acetanilide compound, comprising applying to the soil a herbicidal composition, comprising an herbicidally effective amount and an antidotally effective amount of said active halo acetanilide compound an antidote compound having the formula ##STR327## wherein said antidote compound is present in an amount ranging between about 0.0001 to 30 parts by weight for each part by weight of the active herbicidal acetanilide.
- 11. The method according to claim 6 in which said acetanilide herbicide compound is selected from 2-chloro-2',6'-diethyl-N-(methoxymethyl) acetanilide or 2-chloro-N-isopropyl acetanilide.
- 12. The herbicidal composition as set forth in claim 2 wherein said active acetanilide is 2-chloro-2',6'-diethyl-N-(methoxymethyl) acetanilide.
- 13. The herbicidal composition as set forth in claim 2 wherein said active acetanilide is 2-chloro-N-isopropyl acetanilide.
- 14. The method of protecting milo plants from injury due to 2,-chloro-2',6'-diethyl-N-(methoxymethyl) acetanilide comprising applying to the soil in which an herbicidally effective amount of said 2-chloro-2',6'-diethyl-N-(methoxymethyl) acetanilide is used, a non-phytotoxic antidotally effective amount of a compound corresponding to the formula ##STR328##
- 15. The method protecting wheat plants from injury due to 2-chloro-N-isopropyl acetanilide comprising applying to the soil in which an herbicidally effective amount of said 2-chloro-N-isopropyl acetanilide is used, a non-phytotoxic antidotally effective amount of a compound corresponding to the formula ##STR329##
- 16. The herbicide composition as set forth in claim 1 wherein said active acetanilide is 2-chloro-2',6'-diethyl-N-(methoxymethyl) acetanilide.
- 17. The method according to claim 7 in which the halo acetanilide herbicidal compound is selected from 2-chloro-2',6'-diethyl-N-(methoxymethyl) acetanilide or 2-chloro-N-isopropyl acetanilide.
- 18. The herbicide composition as set forth in claim 1 wherein said active acetanilide is 2-chloro-N-isopropyl acetanilide.
