Claims
- 1. A hide-curing additive comprising an effective biocidal amount of an essential oil and a non-ionic surfactant.
- 2. The hide-curing additive of claim 1, wherein the essential oil is selected from the group consisting of pine oil, camphor, orange, citronella, d-limonene, dipentene, and eugenol.
- 3. The hide-curing additive of claim 1, wherein the essential oil is selected from the group consisting of pine oil and camphor.
- 4. The hide-curing additive of claim 1, wherein the surfactant is selected from the group consisting of primary and secondary alcohol ethoxylates, nonylphenol ethoxylates, and block polymer surfactants.
- 5. The hide-curing additive of claim 1, wherein the surfactant is a nonylphenoxypolyethoxyethanol.
- 6. The hide-curing additive of claim 2, wherein the surfactant is selected from the group consisting of primary and secondary alcohol ethoxylates, nonylphenol ethoxylates, and block polymer surfactants.
- 7. The hide-curing additive of claim 2, wherein the surfactant is a nonylphenoxypolyethoxyethanol.
- 8. The hide-curing additive of claim 2, wherein the surfactant is selected from the group consisting of T-Det N-4 and T-Det N-9.5.
- 9. The hide-curing additive of claim 3, wherein the surfactant is selected from the group consisting of primary and secondary alcohol ethoxylates, nonylphenol ethoxylates, and block polymer surfactants.
- 10. The hide-curing additive of claim 3, wherein the surfactant is a nonylphenoxypolyethoxyethanol.
- 11. The hide-curing additive of claim 3, wherein the surfactant is selected from the group consisting of T-Det N-4 and T-Det N-9.5.
- 12. A hide-curing additive comprising:
7Essential oil7-40% by wt.Non-ionic surfactant10-30%Diluentbalance.
- 13. The hide-curing additive of claim 12, wherein the essential oil is selected from the group consisting of pine oil, camphor, orange, citronella, d-limonene, dipentene, and eugenol.
- 14. The hide-curing additive of claim 12, wherein the essential oil is selected from the group consisting of pine oil and camphor.
- 15. The hide-curing additive of claim 12, wherein the surfactant is selected from the group consisting of primary and secondary alcohol ethoxylates, nonylphenol ethoxylates, and block polymer surfactants.
- 16. The hide-curing additive of claim 12, wherein the surfactant is a nonylphenoxypolyethoxyethanol.
- 17. The hide-curing additive of claim 13, wherein the surfactant is selected from the group consisting of primary and secondary alcohol ethoxylates, nonylphenol ethoxylates, and block polymer surfactants.
- 18. The hide-curing additive of claim 13, wherein the surfactant is a nonylphenoxypolyethoxyethanol.
- 19. The hide-curing additive of claim 13, wherein the surfactant is selected from the group consisting of T-Det N-4 and T-Det N-9.5.
- 20. The hide-curing additive of claim 14, wherein the surfactant is selected from the group consisting of primary and secondary alcohol ethoxylates, nonylphenol ethoxylates, and block polymer surfactants.
- 21. The hide-curing additive of claim 14, wherein the surfactant is a nonylphenoxypolyethoxyethanol.
- 22. The hide-curing additive of claim 14, wherein the surfactant is selected from the group consisting of T-Det N-4 and T-Det N-9.5.
- 23. A hide-curing additive comprising:
8Pine Oil5.0% by wt.Camphor10.0%T-Det N-9.58.0%T-Det N-47.0%LPA 21070.0%.
- 24. An improved method of curing hides wherein the hides are contacted with a salt solution comprising the addition of an effective biocidal amount of an essential oil and a non-ionic surfactant.
- 25. The method of claim 24, wherein the essential oil is selected from the group consisting of pine oil, camphor, orange, citronella, d-limonene, dipentene, and eugenol.
- 26. The method of claim 24, wherein the essential oil is selected from the group consisting of pine oil and camphor.
- 27. The method of claim 24, wherein the surfactant is selected from the group consisting of primary and secondary alcohol ethoxylates, nonylphenol ethoxylates, and block polymer surfactants.
- 28. The method of claim 24, wherein the surfactant is a nonylphenoxypolyethoxyethanol.
- 29. The method of claim 25, wherein the surfactant is selected from the group consisting of primary and secondary alcohol ethoxylates, nonylphenol ethoxylates, and block polymer surfactants.
- 30. The method of claim 25, wherein the surfactant is a nonylphenoxypolyethoxyethanol.
- 31. The method of claim 25, wherein the surfactant is selected from the group consisting of T-Det N-4 and T-Det N-9.5.
- 32. The method of claim 27, wherein the surfactant is selected from the group consisting of primary and secondary alcohol ethoxylates, nonylphenol ethoxylates, and block polymer surfactants.
- 33. The method of claim 27, wherein the surfactant is a nonylphenoxypolyethoxyethanol.
- 34. The method of claim 27, wherein the surfactant is selected from the group consisting of T-Det N-4 and T-Det N-9.5.
- 35. An improved method of curing hides wherein the hides are contacted with a salt solution, comprising the addition of a hide-curing additive comprising:
9Essential oil7-40% by wt.Non-ionic surfactant10-30% by wt.Diluentbalance.
- 36. The method of claim 35, wherein the essential oil is selected from the group consisting of pine oil, camphor, orange, citronella, d-limonene, dipentene, and eugenol.
- 37. The method of claim 35, wherein the essential oil is selected from the group consisting of pine oil and camphor.
- 38. The method of claim 35, wherein the surfactant is selected from the group consisting of primary and secondary alcohol ethoxylates, nonylphenol ethoxylates, and block polymer surfactants.
- 39. The method of claim 35, wherein the surfactant is a nonylphenoxypolyethoxyethanol.
- 40. The method of claim 36, wherein the surfactant is selected from the group consisting of primary and secondary alcohol ethoxylates, nonylphenol ethoxylates, and block polymer surfactants.
- 41. The method of claim 36, wherein the surfactant is a nonylphenoxypolyethoxyethanol.
- 42. The method of claim 36, wherein the surfactant is selected from the group consisting of T-Det N-4 and T-Det N-9.5.
- 43. The method of claim 37, wherein the surfactant is selected from the group consisting of primary and secondary alcohol ethoxylates, nonylphenol ethoxylates, and block polymer surfactants.
- 44. The method of claim 37, wherein the surfactant is a nonylphenoxypolyethoxyethanol.
- 45. The method of claim 37, wherein the surfactant is selected from the group consisting of T-Det N-4 and T-Det N-9.5.
- 46. An improved method of curing hides wherein the hides are contacted with a salt solution, comprising the addition of a hide-curing additive comprising:
