Claims
- 1. A method for coating a surface of an uncured rubber article which comprises applying on the surface of the uncured rubber article an aqueous mixture containing an aqueous rubber latex, a resin emulsion and vulcanized and/or unvulcanized ground rubber particles having a particle size of from 5 to 400 microns as filler in an amount of from 4 to 60% by weight based on the weight of the composition and thereafter curing the coated rubber article.
- 2. The method of claim 1 wherein an outside tire surface is coated with the aqueous mixture and thereafter shaped and vulcanized.
- 3. The method of claim 1 wherein the aqueous mixture contains from about 4 to about 60 weight percent of ground rubber, from about 0.5 to about 15 weight percent of rubber latex, and from about 1 to about 30 weight percent of resin emulsion.
- 4. The method of claim 3 wherein the aqueous mixture contains from about 15 to about 70% solids.
- 5. The method of claim 4 where the aqueous mixture contains a thickening agent, surfactant, wetting agent, a biocide/preservative, colorant, tack enhancer, foam control agent, shear stabilizer, sequestering agent, or a mixture of any of them.
- 6. The method of claim 1 wherein the aqueous mixture contains ground rubber having a particle size of from about 50 to about 200 microns.
- 7. The method of claim 1, wherein the surface of the rubber article is pretreated with an oxidizing agent or UV radiation.
