- 15. The filter medium of claim 10 wherein said first layer is electret treated.
- 16. The filter medium of claim 1 further comprising a third layer, said third layer comprising an autogenously bonded nonwoven web of multicomponent spunbond fibers comprising at least a first thermoplastic polymer component and a second thermoplastic polymer component having a melting point difference of at least 10.degree. C. and wherein said first layer is disposed between said second and third layers.
- 17. The filter medium of claim 16 wherein said first layer of multicomponent spunbond fibers is through-air bonded and is without mechanically compacted regions.
- 18. The filter medium of claim 17 wherein said third layer of multicomponent spunbond fibers is through-air bonded and is without mechanically compacted regions.
- 19. The filter medium of claim 17 wherein said first layer is electret treated.
- 20. The filter medium of claim 18 wherein said microfiber web comprises a nonwoven web of meltblown fibers.
- 21. The filter medium of claim 20 wherein the first thermoplastic polymer component of said multicomponent spunbond fibers of said first layer comprises a polymer having a melting point at least about 10.degree. C. lower than the melting point of the second polymer component.
- 22. The filter medium of claim 21 wherein said first thermoplastic polymer component of each of said first and third layers comprise a polyethylene polymer and said second thermoplastic polymer component of each of said first and third layers comprise a polypropylene polymer.
- 23. The filter medium of claim 21 wherein the first thermoplastic polymer component of each of said first and third layers comprises a polyethylene polymer.
