Claims
- 1. A thin film transducer comprising:
a coil; and a yoke, wherein the coil is formed as a transmission line.
- 2. The thin film transducer of claim 1 wherein the coil is U-shaped.
- 3. The thin film transducer of claim 1 wherein the yoke and coil are intertwined to provide more than two flux interactions between the yoke and the coil.
- 4. The thin film transducer of claim 1 wherein the yoke is a planar symmetrical structure.
- 5. The thin film transducer of claim 4 wherein the yoke further includes:
a first pole portion made of a laminated material; and a second pole portion made of a laminated material.
- 6. The thin film transducer of claim 1 wherein the yoke further includes:
a first pole portion made of a laminated material; and a second pole portion made of a laminated material, wherein the laminated material includes:
a first layer of ferromagnetic material; a second layer of ferromagnetic material; and a layer of nonmagnetic conductive material interposed between the first layer of ferromagnetic material and the second layer of ferromagnetic material.
- 7. The thin film transducer of claim 6 wherein the first layer of ferromagnetic material and the second layer of ferromagnetic material are antiferromagnically exchange coupled to each other through the layer of nonmagnetic conductive material.
- 8. The thin film transducer of claim 6 wherein the first pole portion and the second pole portion are planar.
- 9. The thin film transducer of claim 6 wherein the first pole portion has two ends and the second pole portion has two ends, wherein the first pole portion and the second pole portion are connected to one another between the ends of the first pole portion and the second pole portion.
- 10. The thin film transducer of claim 6 wherein the coil is U-shaped.
- 11. The thin film transducer of claim 6 wherein the coil consists of a single turn.
- 12. The thin film transducer of claim 6 wherein the first pole portion is symmetrical.
- 13. The thin film transducer of claim 6 wherein the second pole portion is symmetrical.
- 14. A slider comprising:
a magneto resistive read element; and a write element further comprising:
a coil; and a yoke, wherein the coil is formed as a transmission line.
- 15. The slider of claim 14 wherein the yoke is symmetrical.
- 16. The slider of claim 14 wherein yoke and coil are intertwined to provide more than two flux interactions between the yoke and the coil.
- 17. The slider of claim 14 wherein the yoke forms a figure 8 around the coil to provide more than two flux interactions between the yoke and the coil.
- 18. The slider of claim 14 further comprising:
a first pole portion made of a laminated material; and a second pole portion made of a laminated material, wherein the laminated material includes:
a first layer of ferromagnetic material; a second layer of ferromagnetic material; and a layer of nonmagnetic conductive material interposed between the first layer of ferromagnetic material and the second layer of ferromagnetic material.
- 19. The slider of claim 14 further comprising:
a first pole portion made of a laminated material; and a second pole portion made of laminated material, wherein each of the first and second pole portions includes at least two layers of ferromagnetic material which are separated by a layer of nonmagnetic conductive material and antiferromagnically exchange coupled to each other through the layer of nonmagnetic conductive material.
- 20. A disc drive which uses the slider of claim 14, the disc drive further comprising:
a base; a disc rotatably attached to the base; an actuator assembly attached to the base, the actuator assembly including the slider, the actuator assembly adapted to move the slider between selected positions on the disc.
- 21. The disc drive of claim 20 wherein the actuator assembly further comprises:
a voice coil motor for moving the actuator assembly; and a control circuit for controlling the movement of the actuator assembly by controlling the amount of current provided to the voice coil motor.
- 22. The disc drive of claim 20 further comprising a data channel.
- 23. A transducer comprising:
a magneto resistive read element; and a write element, the write element comprising:
means for providing a high frequency write current; and a yoke.
