Claims
- 1. A unitary multi-filament polyester yarn, wherein the polyester polymer has a relative viscosity (LRV) of 13 to 23 and a zero-shear melting point (T.sub.m.sup.o) of 240.degree. to 265.degree. C., wherein the filaments of said multi-filament yarn are at least 150 flat filaments of denier 0.5 to 2.2 that show unitary filament entanglement, and wherein said yarn has an elongation-to-break (E.sub.B) of 40 to 160%, a normalized yarn tenacity-at-break-denier (T.sub.B).sub.n of at least 5 g/dd, and where (T.sub.B).sub.n =Tenacity(g/d)(RDR).sub.s (20.8/LRV).sup.0.75, and where (RDR).sub.s is the residual spun draw ratio and is defined by (RDR).sub.s =�1+(E.sub.B)/100!, and an along-end draw tension coefficient of variation (DTV, %) of less than 1%.
- 2. A yarn according to claim 1, having an elongation-to-break (E.sub.B) of 40 to 90%, and a (1-S/S.sub.m) value of at least 0.85, where S is the boil-off shrinkage and S.sub.m is the maximum shrinkage potential.
- 3. A unitary multi-filament polyester yarn, wherein the polyester polymer has a relative viscosity (LRV) of 13 to 23 and a zero-shear melting point (T.sub.m.sup.o) of 240.degree. to 265.degree. C., wherein the filaments of said multi-filament yarn are at least 150 flat filaments of denier 0.2 to 1 that show unitary filament entanglement, and wherein said yarn has an elongation-to-break (E.sub.B) of 15 to 40%, a normalized yarn tenacity-at-break-denier (T.sub.B).sub.n of at least 5 g/d, where (T.sub.B).sub.n =Tenacity(g/d)(RDR).sub.s (20.8/LRV).sup.0.75, and where (RDR).sub.s is the residual spun draw ratio and is defined by (RDR).sub.s =�1+(E.sub.B)/100!, and an along-end draw tension coefficient of variation (DTV, %) of less than 1%.
- 4. A Unitary multi-filament polyester yarn, wherein the polyester has a relative viscosity (LRV) of 13 to 23 and a zero-shear melting point (T.sub.m.sup.o) of 240.degree. to 265.degree. C., wherein the filaments of said multi-filament yarn are at least 150 textured filaments of denier 0.2 to 1 that show unitary filament entanglement, and wherein said yarn has an elongation-to-break (E.sub.B) of 15% to a normalized tenacity-at-break-denier (T.sub.B).sub.n of at least 4 g/dd, where (T.sub.B).sub.n =Tenacity(g/d) (RDR).sub.s (20.8/LRV).sup.0.75, and where (RDR).sub.s is the residual spun draw ratio and is defined by (RDR).sub.s =�1+(E.sub.B)/100!, and a Fray Count of less than 10 per 1000 meters.

No. 5,250,245, themselves variously continuations-in-part of three applications Ser. Nos. 07/860,776 (DP-4555-B) filed Mar. 27, 1992, and 07/647,381 (DP-4555-A) and 07/647,371 (DP-4555 and sometimes referred to as the "parent" application), both filed Jan. 29, 1991, all three now abandoned.
