- 5. The rotor of claim 4, wherein the plurality of blades and said plurality of rim segments each having an attachment portion.
- 6. The rotor of claim 5, wherein said rim segment is bonded to said disk below said attachment portion of said rim segment.
- 7. The rotor system of claim 6, wherein said rim segment is solid.
- 8. The rotor of claim 1, which further includes a gas turbine engine, and wherein said rotor is rotatable within said gas turbine engine.
- 9. The rotor of claim 8, wherein said plurality of rim segments are connected to said disk by diffusion bond braze.
- 10. The rotor of claim 9, wherein each of said plurality of blades and each of said plurality of rim segments each having an attachment portion that interlock for coupling said blades to said disk.
- 11. The rotor of claim 8, wherein said plurality of rim segments are of a cast structure and coupled to said disk by a diffusion bond braze; and wherein the plurality of blades and said plurality of rim segments each having an attachment portion that interlock for coupling said blades to said disk; and wherein said disk and said rim segments are made of different materials.
- 12. A rotor system, comprising:
- a disk;
- at least one airfoil; and
- a plurality of circumferentially spaced single crystal rim segments coupled along the periphery of said disk, at least one of said plurality of rim segments cooperating with said at least one airfoil for coupling said at least one airfoil to said disk.
- 13. The rotor system of claim 12, wherein at least two of said plurality of rim segments cooperating for coupling said at least one airfoil to said disk, and wherein said plurality of rim segments are bonded to said disk.
- 14. The rotor system of claim 12, wherein each of said plurality of rim segments are formed of a material that is capable of withstanding gases impinging thereon at a temperature higher than said disk is capable of withstanding.
