Claims
- 1. An amorphous ethylene/propylene copolymer consisting essentially of:
- from 10 wt % to 20 wt % ethylene and from 90 wt % to 80 wt % propylene, said copolymer having a tensile strength between 100 psig and 350 psig, a melt viscosity between 6700 and 7700, the copolymer exhibiting a heat of fusion between 7.5 l/g. and 14.4 l/g and containing no heptane insolubles.
- 2. The ethylene/propylene copolymer of claim 1 wherein the copolymer has a ring and ball softening point between 280.degree. F. and 285.degree. F.
- 3. The ethylene/propylene copolymer of claim 1 further characterized by a needle penetration between 5 and 24.
- 4. The ethylene/propylene copolymer of claim 1 wherein the copolymer has a glass transition temperature between -47.degree. C. and -50.degree. C.
- 5. An amorphous ethylene/propylene copolymer consisting essentially of:
- from 10 wt % to 20 wt % ethylene and from 90 wt % to 80 wt % propylene, said copolymer having a tensile strength between 100 psig and 350 psig, a needle penetration of between 5 and 24, and a melt viscosity between 6700 and 7700, the copolymer exhibiting a heat of fusion between 7.5 l/g and 14.4 l/g and containing no heptane insolubles;
- said copolymer having at least 20 mole % of the total ethylene contained in the copolymer present in blocks of at least 3 contiguous ethylene units.
- 6. The ethylene/propylene copolymer of claim 5 wherein the copolymer has a ring and ball softening point between 280.degree. F. and 285.degree. F.
- 7. The ethylene/propylene copolymer of claim 5 further characterized by a tacticity index m/r greater than 4.0.
