Claims
- 1. In combination:
- a beam penetration cathode-ray tube having an accelerating electrode and a screen electrode; and
- means for producing signals for deflecting the beam of said beam penetration cathode-ray tube in response to input beam position determining signals, the amplitude of said deflecting signals for a fixed amplitude of said input beam position determining signals being determined in response to the voltage applied to said screen electrode.
- 2. The combination of claim 1 further comprising:
- means for producing a high voltage signal coupled to said screen electrode, the voltage of said high voltage signal determining the color displayed by said beam penetration cathode-ray tube.
- 3. The combination of claim 2 wherein said means for producing signals for deflecting the beam of said beam penetration cathode-ray tube comprises:
- first and second deflection amplifiers; and
- means for varying the gain of each of said amplifiers in response to said high voltage signal.
- 4. The combination of claim 3 further comprising:
- means for proportionately reducing said high voltage signal to produce a gain determining signal coupled to said gain determining means.
- 5. The combination of claim 4 further comprising:
- means for producing magnetic fields for deflecting the beam of said beam penetration cathode-ray tube in response to said beam deflecting signals.
- 6. In combination:
- a beam penetration cathode-ray tube having an accelerating electrode and a screen electrode;
- first and second deflection coils for deflecting the beam of said beam penetration cathode-ray tube;
- means for amplifying first and second input beam position determining signals to produce first and second beam deflection signals, said beam deflection signals being coupled to said deflection coils; and
- means for varying the gain of said amplifying means in response to the voltage applied to said screen electrode.
- 7. The combination of claim 6 wherein:
- said varying means varies said gain of said amplifying means as a substantially linear function of said voltage applied to said screen electrode.
- 8. The combination of claim 7 further comprising:
- means for linearly scaling said voltage applied to said screen electrode to produce a gain control signal coupled to said gain varying means.
- 9. The combination of claim 8 further comprising:
- means for producing high voltage signals in response to a color control signal, the color of light emitted by said beam penetration cathode-ray tube being determined by said high voltage signals.
- 10. The combination of claim 9 further comprising:
- a source of a fixed voltage coupled to said accelerating electrode.
- 11. In combination:
- a beam penetration cathode-ray tube having an accelerating electrode and a screen electrode;
- means for producing a variable high voltage signal coupled to said screen electrode, the voltage of said signal being determined in accordance with a color determining signal;
- a source of first and second beam position determining signals; and
- means for producing first and second beam deflecting signals in response to said beam position determining signals and said high voltage-signal, changes in said high voltage signal causing a corresponding linearly related change in the ratio between said beam deflecting signals and the corresponding ones of the beam position determining signals.
- 12. The combination of claim 11 further comprising:
- first and second deflection coils for deflecting the beam of said cathode-ray tube.
- 13. The combination of claim 12 wherein said means for producing said first and second bean deflecting signals comprises:
- first and second deflection amplifier means, the outputs of said deflection amplifier means being coupled to the corresponding ones of said deflection coils.
- 14. The combination of claim 13 further comprising:
- means for linearly scaling said variable high voltage signal to produce a gain control signal.
- 15. The combination of claim 14 wherein said means for producing said first and second deflecting signals each comprise a deflection gain compensating circuit, said deflection gain compensating circuit comprising:
- means for producing a signal substantially equal to said gain determining signal minus a predetermined constant value;
- means for multiplying said signal substantially equal to said gain determining signal minus a predetermined constant value by the corresponding beam position determining signal; and
- means for summing the output signal produced by said multiplying means with said corresponding one of the beam position determining signals.
