Claims
- 1. A prepared nutriment comprising:
a nutriment material; and a solution or suspension of a. highly acidic metalated organic acid (“HAMO”) absorbed therein or adsorbed thereon.
- 2. The prepared nutriment of claim 1, wherein the HAMO comprises a monovalent or polyvalent cation, an organic acid, and an anion of a strong oxyacid;
wherein the HAMO has an acidic pH value and an acid normality value, wherein the HAMO is less corrosive to a ferrous metal than is a solution of a mineral acid having the same acidic pH value as that of the HAMO, and wherein the HAMO is more biocidal than a mixture of the organic acid and a metal salt of the organic acid which mixture having the same acid normality value as that of the HAMO.
- 3. The HAMO of claim 2, wherein the monovalent cation comprises an ion of a Group IA element.
- 4. The HAMO of claim 2, wherein the polyvalent cation comprises an ion of a Group IIA element:, but not beryllium.
- 5. The HAMO of claim 2, wherein the polyvalent cation comprises an ion of a Group IIIA element, but not boron.
- 6. The HAMO of claim 2, wherein the polyvalent cation comprises an ion of a metal of the first transition series.
- 7. The HAMO of claim 2, wherein the polyvalent cation comprises an ion of magnesium, calcium, iron (II), copper, or zinc.
- 8. The HAMO of claim 2, wherein the polyvalent cation comprises an ion of lead, bismuth, or tin.
- 9. The HAMO of claim 2, wherein the organic acid comprises a carboxylic acid or an acidic vitamin.
- 10. The HAMO of claim 9, wherein the acidic vitamin comprises vitamin C.
- 11. The HAMO of claim 9, wherein the carboxylic acid comprises a monocarboxylic acid, a dicarboxylic acid, or a tricarboxylic acid.
- 12. The HAMO of claim 2, wherein the organic acid comprises acetic acid, lactic acid, formic acid, or propionic acid.
- 13. The HAMO of claim 2, wherein the organic acid comprises an amino acid having an amino group, and wherein the number of equivalents of the regenerating acid is greater than the total number of equivalents of the metal base and the amino group of the amino acid.
- 14. The HAMO of claim 13, wherein the amino acid comprises glycine, valine, leucine, phenylalanine, lysine, serine, asparagine, glutamic acid, alanine, arginine, aspartic acid, cysteine, histidine, hydroxylysine, hydroxyproline, isoleucine, methionine, proline, threonine, tryptophan, tyrosine, aminoadipic acid, diaminobutyric, ornithine, pepicolic acid, sarcosine or triiodothyronine.
- 15. The prepared nutriment of claim 1, wherein the nutriment material is food, drink, food supplement, drink supplement, food dressing, sauce, seasoning, spices, flavoring agent, or stuffing.
- 16. A prepared nutriment comprising:
a nutriment material; and a solution or suspension of a highly acidic metalated organic acid (“HAMO”) absorbed therein or adsorbed thereon; wherein the solution of suspension of the HAMO is prepared by mixing ingredients comprising: at least one regenerating acid having a first number of equivalents; at least one metal base having a second number of equivalents; and at least one organic acid; wherein the first number of equivalents of the regenerating acid is greater than that of the second number of equivalents of the metal base.
- 17. The HAMO of claim 16, wherein the regenerating acid comprises a strong oxyacid of sulfur, phosphorus, nitrogen, chromium, or iodine.
- 18. The HAMO of claim 16, wherein the regenerating acid comprises a strong oxyacid of molybdenum, tungsten, or selenium.
- 19. The HAMO of claim 16, wherein the regenerating acid comprises sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, or an acidic solution of sparingly-soluble Group IIA complexes.
- 20. The HAMO of claim 19, wherein the acidic sparingly-soluble Group IIA complex is prepared by mixing ingredients comprising a mineral acid and a Group IIA hydroxide, or a Group IIA salt of a dibasic acid, or a mixture thereof.
- 21. The HAMO of claim 20, wherein the Group IIA hydroxide comprises calcium hydroxide, the mineral acid comprises sulfuric acid, and the Group IIA salt of the dibasic acid comprises calcium sulfate.
- 22. The HAMO of claim 16, wherein the metal base comprises a hydroxide, a carbonate, a bicarbonate, or an oxide of a metal.
- 23. The HAMO of claim 16, wherein the metal base comprises a base of a Group IA element.
- 24. The HAMO of claim 16, wherein the metal base comprises a base of a Group IIA element, but not beryllium.
- 25. The HAMO of claim 16, wherein the metal base comprises a base of a Group IIIA element, but not boron.
- 26. The HAMO of claim 16, wherein the metal base comprises a base of a metal of the first transition series.
- 27. The HAMO of claim 16, wherein the metal base comprises a base of magnesium, calcium, iron (II), copper, or zinc.
- 28. The HAMO of claim 16, wherein the metal base comprises a base of lead, bismuth, or tin.
- 29. The HAMO of claim 16, wherein the organic acid comprises a carboxylic acid or an acidic vitam in.
- 30. The HAMO of claim 29, wherein the acidic vitamin comprises vitamin C.
- 31. The HAMO of claim 29, wherein the carboxylic acid comprises a monocarboxylic acid, a dicarboxylic acid, or a tricarboxylic acid.
- 32. The HAMO of claim 16, wherein the organic acid comprises acetic acid, lactic acid, formic acid, or propionic acid.
- 33. The HAMO of claim 16, wherein the organic acid comprises an amino acid having an amino group, and wherein the number of equivalents of the regenerating acid is greater than the total number of equivalents of the metal base and the amino group of the amino acid.
- 34. The HAMO of claim 33, wherein the amino acid comprises glycine, valine, leucine, phenylalanine, lysine, serine, asparagine, glutamic acid, alanine, arginine, aspartic acid, cysteine, histidine, hydroxylysine, hydroxyproline, isoleucine, methionine, proline, threonine, tryptophan, tyrosine, aminoadipic acid, diaminobutyric, ornithine, pepicolic acid, sarcosine or triiodothyronine.
- 35. The prepared nutriment of claim 16, wherein the nutriment material is food, drink, food supplement, drink supplement, food dressing, sauce, seasoning, spices, flavoring agent, or stuffing.
- 36. A method for manufacturing a prepared nutriment comprising:
contacting a solution or suspension of a highly acidic metalated organic acid (“HAMO”) with a nutriment material.
- 37. The prepared nutriment of claim 36, wherein the nutriment material is food, drink, food supplement,, drink supplement, food dressing, sauce, seasoning, spices, flavoring agent, or stuffing.
- 38. A method for manufacturing a prepared nutriment comprising:
contacting a solution or suspension of a highly acidic metalated organic acid (“HAMO”) with a carrier to give a constituted carrier; and blending the constituted carrier with a nutriment material.
- 39. The prepared nutriment of claim 38, wherein the nutriment material is food, drink, food supplement, drink supplement, food dressing, seasoning, spices, flavoring agent, or stuffing.
- 40. A method for reducing biological contaminants in a nutriment comprising:
contacting the nutriment with a solution or suspension of a highly acidic metalated organic acid (“HAMO” ).
- 41. A method for preserving a consumable product, comprising:
contacting the consumable product with a solution or suspension of a solution or suspension of a highly acidic metalated organic acid (“HAMO”).
- 42. The method of claim 40, wherein the consumable product comprises a plant product and an animal product.
