Claims
- 1. A Marcel-type curling iron comprising:
a curling barrel having a length less than about four inches; a concave hair clamp member having first and second surfaces and a peripheral edge joining the surfaces, with the hair clamp member being pivotally engageable with the curling barrel to clamp a section of hair and a least a portion of the peripheral edge being rounded to avoid creasing hair clamped between the clam member and the curling barrel; a pair of handle members for pivotally engaging and disengaging the curling barrel and the hair clamp member, with each handle member including:
a portion freely rotatable relative another portion of the handle member; and a thermally-insulative bushing or an air sleeve between the freely rotable portion and the other portion of the handle member.
- 2. The Marcel-type curling iron of claim 1, wherein the curling barrel includes an interior electric heating element and one of the pair of handle members includes an interior pair of electric leads having a first pair of ends connected to the interior electric heating element and a second pair of ends coupled to a male electric plug.
- 3. The Marcel-type curling iron of claim 1, wherein the portion further includes at least one notch or opening for placing at least one finger of a user.
- 4. A kit comprising:
a first Marcel-type curling iron having a first curling barrel of a first nominal diameter and a first length; a second Marcel-type curling iron having a second curling barrel of a second nominal diameter and second length; and wherein the second length is substantially shorter than the first length.
- 5. The kit of claim 4, wherein the second length is about half the first length.
- 6. The kit of claim 4, wherein the first length is between five and seven inches and the second length is about half the first length.
- 7. The kit of claim 4, wherein the first nominal diameter and the second nominal diameter are substantially equal.
- 8. A kit comprising:
a first Marcel-type curling iron having a first curling barrel of a first nominal diameter and a first length; a second Marcel-type curling iron having a second curling barrel of a second nominal diameter and second length which is about two-thirds of the first length; and a third Marcel-type curling iron having a third curling barrel of a third nominal diameter and third length which is about one -third of the first length.
- 9. The kit of claim 8, wherein the first length is between five and seven inches.
- 10. The kit of claim 8, wherein the first, second, and third nominal diameters are substantially equal.
- 11. A curling iron stove comprising:
a first chamber for a first curling iron, the first chamber having a first nominal depth; and a second chamber for a second curling iron, the second chamber having a second nominal depth substantially less than the first nominal depth.
- 12. The curling iron stove of claim 11 further including a detachable rack for storing one or more curling irons.
- 13. The curling iron stove of claim 11 further including:
one or more male or female snap members fixed relative to the first and second chambers; and a cover including one or more corresponding female or male snap members for attaching the cover to the curling iron stove.
- 14. The curling iron stove of claim 11 further including:
a detachable rack for storing one or more curling irons. one or more male or female snap members fixed relative to the first and second chambers; and a cover including one or more corresponding female or male snap members for attaching the cover to the curling iron stove.
- 15. A kit for a hair stylist, comprising:
a first Marcel-type curling iron having a first curling barrel of a first nominal diameter and a first length; a second Marcel-type curling iron having a second curling barrel of a second nominal diameter and second length which is substantially shorter than the first length; a curling iron stove comprising:
a first chamber having a first nominal depth corresponding to the first length; and a second chamber having a second nominal depth substantially less than the first nominal depth and corresponding to the second length.
- 16. A method comprising:
using a first Marcel-type curling iron having a first curling barrel of a first nominal diameter and a first length; and using a second Marcel-type curling iron having a second curling barrel of a second nominal diameter and second length which is substantially shorter than the first length.
- 17. A method comprising:
providing a curling iron stove comprising:
a first chamber having a first nominal depth; and a second chamber having a second nominal depth substantially less than the first nominal depth; inserting a first Marcel-type curling iron having a first curling barrel of a first nominal diameter and a first length into the first chamber; and inserting a second Marcel-type curling iron having a second curling barrel of a second nominal diameter and second length which is substantially shorter than the first length into the second chamber.
- 18. An assembly comprising:
a case having a base and a detachable cover; a curling iron stove having one or more chambers and being attached to the base of the case.
- 19. The assembly of claim 18 wherein the curling iron stove comprises
a first chamber for a first curling iron, the first chamber having a first nominal depth; and a second chamber for a second curling iron, the second chamber having a second nominal depth substantially less than the first nominal depth.
- 20. The assembly of claim 18, wherein the case further comprises one or more latches for releasably fastening the cover to the base.
