Claims
- 1. A disc package for retaining a disc comprising:
a retention panel defining a plane having first and second surfaces, the first surface of said retention panel being in substantial contact with a face of said disc when the disc is inserted within said disc package; a cover panel being contiguous with said retention panel and sharing with said retention panel a common edge corresponding to a first edge of said retention panel, said common edge having a fold line for folding the cover panel into substantial superposition with said retention panel, said cover panel covering at least a portion of the disc retained in the package; and a disc retainment section positioned proximate a second edge of the retention panel and superposed with respect to a portion of the first surface of the retention panel, at least a portion of the disc retainment section being unattached to the first surface of the retention panel to enable at least a portion of the disc to be positioned between retention panel and the disc retainment section.
- 2. The disc package as defined by claim 1, wherein the disc retainment section is contiguous with the retention panel.
- 3. The disc package as defined by claim 2, wherein the disc retainment section shares at least a portion of a common edge with the second edge of the retention panel, said common edge having a fold line for folding the disc retainment section so as to overlay said retention panel first surface.
- 4. The disc package as defined by claim 1 wherein the disc retainment section comprises at least first and second layers, the second layer being interposed between the first layer and the retention panel.
- 5. The disc package as defined by claim 4 wherein the second layer includes a contoured edge which substantially conforms to the periphery of the disc for engaging at least a portion of the periphery of the disc.
- 6. The disc package as defined by claim 1 wherein the cover panel further comprises a locking tab which engages said disc retainment section for securing the cover panel in superposition with the retention panel.
- 7. A disc package for retaining a disc comprising:
a retention panel defining a plane having first and second surfaces, the first surface of said retention panel being in substantial contact with a face of said disc when the disc is inserted within said disc package; a first folded sidewall section extending from a first side of the retention panel, and having a first contour edge substantially conforming to the periphery of the disc; a second folded sidewall section extending from a second side of the retention panel and having a second contour edge substantially conforming to the periphery of the disc; and a third folded sidewall section extending from a third side of the retention panel and having at least a portion thereof which is unattached to the first surface of the retention panel to enable at least a portion of the disc to be positioned between the retention panel and the third folded sidewall section.
- 8. The disc package as defined by claim 7 further comprising:
a cover panel which is contiguous with and extends from said retention panel, the cover panel sharing with said retention panel a common edge, said common edge having a fold line for folding the cover panel into substantial superposition with said retention panel.
- 9. The disc package as defined by claim 8 wherein the cover panel includes a locking tab which engages said third folded sidewall section for securing the cover panel in superposition with the retention panel.
- 10. The disc package as defined by claim 9 wherein the third folded sidewall section incudes a cut out portion for engagement with the locking tab for securing the cover panel in superposition with the retention panel.
- 11. The disc package as defined by claim 7 wherein said first and second sides of the retention panel are substantially opposite one another, and wherein said third folded sidewall section is coupled to said first and second sidewall sections.
- 12. The disc package as defined by claim 7 wherein at least one of said first, second and third folded sidewall sections are contiguous with the said retention panel.
- 13. The disc package as defined by claim 12 wherein the at least one of said first, second and third folded sidewall sections shares a common edge with said retention panel, said common edge having a fold line for folding the at least one of said first, second and third folded sidewall sections into an overlay position with said retention panel.
- 14. The disc package as defined by claim 7 wherein said first, second and third folded sidewall sections each comprise a single layer.
- 15. The disc package as defined by claim 7 wherein said first and second contour edges are in spaced apart relation a sufficient distance to frictionally engage said disc when said disc is interposed therebetween.
