Claims
- 1. A digital watermark formed by the demetallized regions on an otherwise metallized surface.
- 2. A digital watermark formed by the metallized regions on an otherwise non-metallized surface.
- 3. A holographic device comprising a visually perceptible image and a digital watermark.
- 4. The device of claim 5, wherein said image is selected from the group consisting of holograms, kinegrams, diffraction gratings, exegrams and other optically variable devices.
- 5. The device of claim 4, wherein said device is a security device, an authentication device, or both.
- 6. An apparatus for reading an embossed digital watermark, comprising a detector capable of detecting said digital watermark, and a computer capable of deriving information from said detected watermark.
- 7. The apparatus of claim 6, wherein said detector is selected from the group consisting of a digital scanner and a digital camera.
- 8. The apparatus of claim 6, wherein said information relates to one or more of manufacturer identity information, distributor identity information, purchaser identity information, user identity information, product serial number information and product model number information.
