1. Field of the Invention
The present invention relates generally to pistol holsters and more particularly to a holster that does not attach anywhere to the gun, but rather to the gun site mount.
2. Description of the Prior Art
Prior art holsters typically require a pistol to be inserted in them. The holster is then further attached to a belt or other device that can secure it to a user's body. It would be advantageous to have a holster that only attached to a removable gun site mount of the type similar to that described in my U.S. Pat. No. 8,393,108. The removable gun sight mount is used to mount and hold optical sights.
The present invention relates to a holster that, rather than receiving a handgun, is attached to a sight mount that itself is attached to the handgun. The the site mount which is used to mount an optical sight attaches to the handgun by a tactical rail, 1913 picatinny rail, accessory rail, light rail, weaver style rail, or any other rail system. Since the holster is adapted to fit the sight mount, it thus can be used with many different makes and models of handguns.

Several drawings and illustrations have been presented to aid in understanding the present invention. The scope of the present invention is not limited to what is shown in the figures.
As stated, my U.S. Pat. No. 8,393,108 is directed toward a unique gun site mount for a handgun, that is a mount that holds an optical sight. The present invention is directed toward a holster that fits this gun site mount without attaching to the gun itself. It therefore works with many different models of guns.
The present invention presents a unique way to incorporate a holster with a removable gun site mount on a handgun.
The holster of the present invention can be made of any rigid or semi-rigid material with molded plastic being preferred.
Several descriptions and illustrations have been presented to aid in understanding the present invention. One with skill in the art will realize that numerous changes and variations may be made without departing from the spirit of the invention. Each of these changes and variations is within the scope of the present invention.
