Claims
- 1. A vitamin D compound having the formula:
- where the configuration about carbon 24 may be R or S and wherein n is an integer having a value of 2, X.sub.1 is selected from hydrogen or a hydroxy protecting group. X.sub.2 is selected from hydrogen, hydroxy, and protected hydroxy, X.sub.3 is selected from hydrogen, hydroxy and protected hydroxy, each R.sub.3 is independently selected from alkyl, hydroxy, protected hydroxy, hydrogen or fluorine, with the proviso that at least one R.sub.3 must be alkyl, and wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2, which may be the same or different, are each selected from an alkyl or aryl group.
- 2. The compound of claim 1 wherein X.sub.1 is hydrogen, and X.sub.2 and X.sub.3 are both hydroxy.
- 3. A vitamin D compound having the formula: ##STR10## where the configuration about carbon 24 may be R or S and wherein n is an integer having a value of 2, each R.sub.3 is independently selected from alkyl, hydroxy, protected hydroxy, hydrogen or fluorine, with the proviso that at least one R.sub.3 must be alkyl, and wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2, which may be the same or different, are each selected from an alkyl or aryl group.
- 4. ##STR11## where the configuration about carbon 24 may be R or S and wherein n is an integer having a value of 2, each R.sub.3 is independently selected from alkyl, hydroxy, protected hydroxy, hydrogen or fluorine, with the proviso that at least one R.sub.3 must be alkyl, and wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2, which may be the same or different, are each selected from an alkyl or aryl group.
- 5. 1.alpha.,25-dihydroxy-24-homo-vitamin D.sub.2 where the configuration about carbon 24 may be R or S having the formula: ##STR12##
