Abstract
A tabletop casino game styled after horse track racing and uses one deck of poker playing cards each round. At the start of each round, a card dealer shuffles one deck of poker playing cards. The horse, represented by an ace of one suit placed at the start line, proceeds down the track at a relative speed dependent on the number of cards drawn from the deck that correlate to the suit associated with the horse. The game is played on a semi-circular table with a green felt surface, divided into four rows, each representing a suit of playing cards. Each row has thirteen spaces, each space sized to accommodate a playing card. Players can place side bets before the game and after the tenth card is drawn. The game concludes when one suit of cards reaches the end of the row before the other suits.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Field of the Invention

The present disclosure generally relates to the field of tabletop card-based gaming systems, and more specifically, to a system and method for a casino game that simulates horse track racing using a deck of poker playing cards.

Description of related art

Tabletop card-based games are a popular form of entertainment in casinos and other gaming establishments. These games often involve the use of a standard deck of poker playing cards and a game table. The game table typically has a playing surface where the game is played. The playing surface can be made of various materials, such as green felt, which is commonly used in casinos.

In these games, a casino worker, often referred to as a dealer, plays a central role. The dealer is responsible for shuffling the deck of cards, offering a player the opportunity to cut the deck, and drawing cards from the deck one at a time. The dealer also places each drawn card on the playing surface in a specific manner according to the rules of the game.

In some games, the playing surface is divided into rows and columns, with each row or column representing a specific category or group. For example, in some games, each row or column may represent a suit of playing cards, such as spades, diamonds, clubs, or hearts. The dealer places each drawn card in the row or column corresponding to the suit of the drawn card.

In addition to the main game, players may also have the opportunity to place side bets. Side bets are additional bets that players can make on specific outcomes or events in the game. The rules for placing and paying outside bets vary from game to game.

In some games, the playing surface may also include labels or icons to indicate specific locations or features of the game. For example, the playing surface may include a starting gate label at the beginning of each row or column and a finish line label at the end of each row or column.

In some games, each suit of playing cards may be associated with a designated name or theme. For example, in a game that simulates horse track racing, each suit of playing cards may represent a race horse, with each horse having a designated name.

The odds of winning in these games can vary depending on the rules of the game and the strategy of the players. In some games, the odds of a player winning a single round may be 1 in 4, or 25%, while the odds for the house, or the casino, may be 3 in 4, or 75%.

Wagering games, such as Blackjack and poker, are very popular with players. While many games currently exist, additional games and variations of existing wagering games are always of interest to players and gaming operators to maintain player interest, among other things, and may be provided in a variety of formats, including as a table game, electronic platform, or a combination thereof, or through a networked system. Thus, there continues to be a need for new games to compete with or replace the most popular games being played today.

The instant invention is a tabletop casino game that is styled after horse track racing and will use one deck of poker playing cards each round. To start off each round, the casino worker will take one deck of poker playing cards and shuffle them no more than ten times. After the casino worker has shuffled the deck of poker playing cards, they will then offer one player the opportunity to cut the deck of poker playing cards no more than one time. Once the player has cut the deck of poker playing cards and or they have refused, the casino worker will then take the deck of poker playing cards and announce that the race will begin momentarily.

Before the race begins, the casino worker will give all players the opportunity to place any and all side bets. Once all bets have been confirmed, the casino worker will then commence to start drawing one card from the deck at a time.

When the casino worker draws each card, he/she shall then show the face of the card to the players and place it into its appropriate row and column. After the casino dealer has drawn the tenth card, he/she shall then announce that any player who currently has a bet on the racetrack, may then be able to place another side bet (Giddy Up). When any player wishes to enact the announced side bet which is referred to as a Giddy Up and they may then at the very least, double their current bet. Once all side bets have been confirmed for the Giddy Up the casino worker will resume with the race.

There are four lanes representing each suit of playing cards (spades, diamonds, clubs, hearts) shaped in a semi-circle in the style of a horse track, thus there will be four “horses” going around the track. There will be one casino dealer that turns over each card. Once each card is turned over, the casino dealer would then place the card in the corresponding lane such as diamonds, clubs, hearts, or spades, each of the suits representing the “horse”. There are approximately thirteen spots in each lane that each horse (spades, diamonds, clubs, hearts) must traverse. Whichever horse reaches the thirteenth spot first is then declared the winner.

Side Bets

Giddy Up—After the casino dealer draws the tenth card from the deck, all players wishing to, may then at least double their bet that they currently have.

Thoroughbred—Before the beginning of the race, any player wishing to, may place a bet upon which horse (spades, diamonds, hearts, clubs) they think will win within 4 lengths (cards) of all the other three horses.

The construction of the table is a semi-circle. The playing surface will be made of green felt to simulate a horse racetrack. Each lane will have It will comprise of 4 even rows. Each row will be 13 rectangular spaces, simulating the size of a playing card. Each rectangle in the lane will have a corresponding icon that represents each horse (hearts, diamonds, clubs, spades). The beginning of the track will be labeled starting gate and the end of the track will be labeled finish line. There will be room for one casino worker to distribute each card as it is turned over.

Each racehorse (club, diamond, heart, spade) will have a name designated to them as a racehorse would at a traditional racetrack.

The odds of a player winning a single race is 1 of 4 and or 25% chance to win the race that they place a bet on.

The odds for the house or casino is 3 of 4 equating to 75% of each race or total of all players who placed a bet on the wrong horse and lost. The house may decide on a winning percentage for the player to reach the finish line first. The amount wagered will be less than the amount won in order to draw in players. The house winnings will be reduced by the difference in the player wager and the player winnings.

Referring now to the drawings, FIG. 1 is a detailed view of the semi-circular track 120 with four lanes 130, 140, 150, 160. A dealer 110 sits or stands within the small radius of the track or table. A starting line label 170 and a finish line label 180 are at opposite ends of the tack. The semi-circular table includes the starting gate label 170 at the beginning of each row and the finish line label 180 at the end of each row. In some aspects, these labels may provide visual cues to players, indicating the start and end points of the simulated horse race. The starting gate label may be positioned at the beginning of each row, marking the point from which each suit of playing cards, or “horse”, begins its journey around the track. Similarly, the finish line label may be positioned at the end of each row, marking the point at which a suit of playing cards completes its journey and potentially wins the race.

FIG. 2 illustrates an example, after placing the initial wages, initial placement of cards is performed by the dealer as the round is set up with the ace of spades 210, ace of hearts 220, ace of clubs 230 and ace of diamonds 240 placed in the starting line spaces of lanes 130, 140, 150, 160, respectively. A first side bet is requested by the dealer wherein the players may optionally decide on placing the first side wager. In the example round of FIG. 2, six cards 250 have been drawn and placed by the dealer 119. The dealer 110 is shown to have placed two spades cards on lane 130, one heart card on lane 140, three club cards on lane 150 and no diamond cards on lane 160. After four more cards are drawn, the second side bet may be placed. The second side bet may alternately be placed at other times during the round.

FIG. 3 shows a flowchart 300 of the steps in carrying out the game. The flowchart 300 begins with the players placing a wager 310 on a round of the game. The dealer 110 sets up the round 320 by placing on the game table 120 the ace of spades 210, the ace of hearts 220, the ace of clubs 230 and the ace of diamonds 240 in the first spot of lanes 160, 150, 140, 130, respectively. The players are asked to place an optional first side bet 330 on the game with a response on which lade 130, 140, 150160 will be the winning lane. The dealer 110 turns cards one at a time and places each of the turned cards in the corresponding lane 340. After the 10th card is placed, the dealer 110 asks for an optional second side bet 350. The dealer 110 turns cards one at a time and places each of the turned cards in the corresponding lane until one lane is completely filled 360. The player winnings are distributed 370 based on the completed lane.

In one embodiment of the invention, the assembly of a kit makes installation simple and easy for the house, including the parts necessary to play the game. The kit includes a tablecloth which resembles the table of FIG. 1, a deck of cards and any scoring devices for recording the progress and results of each round.

Each racehorse is represented by either the card suit corresponding to a club, diamond, heart or spade. The casino dealer turns over each card. Therefore, the horse that has the most of their respective suit wins the game.

FIG. 2 is a plan view of the game being played. The current status is that there have been three club suit cards drawn and two diamond suit cards drawn therefore the horse related to the suit is currently in the lead.
