Claims
- 1. A C.B.-17 scid/scid mouse modified by injection of human leukocytes comprising non-malignant mature peripheral leukocytes of a human donor into said mouse, wherein said modified mouse comprises human leukocytes proliferated in vivo in the mouse and exhibits an immune response which is characteristic of said human donor upon stimulation with an immunogen.
- 2. The mouse of claim 1, which is further modified by infection with human immunodeficiency virus.
- 3. A method of modifying a C.B.-17 scid/scid mouse comprising the steps of:
- injecting human leukocytes comprising non-malignant mature peripheral leukocytes of a human donor into said mouse; and
- maintaining said mouse alive for a period of two or more weeks sufficient for said leukocytes to proliferate in vivo in said mouse, thereby causing said modified mouse to exhibit an immune response which is characteristic of said human donor upon stimulation with an immunogen.
- 4. The method of claim 3, further comprising the step of infecting said modified mouse with human immunodeficiency virus.
- 5. The method of claim 3, wherein said human donor is a carrier of Epstein-Barr virus, and further comprising the step of maintaining said modified mouse alive until tumors induced as a result of the presence of Epstein-Barr virus develop.
