Claims
- 1. An alternating current responsive composite comprising a polymeric material and a polar material that is substantially dispersed within said polymeric material, said polar material being responsive to the presence of an alternating current.
- 2. The composite as claimed in claim 1, wherein said polar material is a salt.
- 3. The composite as claimed in claim 1, wherein said polar material is an organic salt.
- 4. The composite as claimed in claim 1, wherein said polymeric material is an adhesive.
- 5. The composite as claimed in claim 1, wherein said polymeric material is an acrylic adhesive.
- 6. The composite as claimed in claim 1, wherein said polymeric material is a pressure sensitive adhesive.
- 7. The composite as claimed in claim 1, wherein said composite has a resistance value of at least 2000 ohms.
- 8. The composite as claimed in claim 1, wherein said polymeric material includes a concentration of said polar material of between about 5% and about 65% based on weight.
- 9. The composite as claimed in claim 1, wherein said polymeric material includes a concentration of said polar material of between about 10% and about 35% based on weight.
- 10. A water insensitive alternating current responsive composite comprising an adhesive and a salt that is substantially dispersed within said adhesive, said salt being responsive to the presence of an alternating current to provide a capacitive coupling from one side of said adhesive to another side of said adhesive.
- 11. The composite as claimed in claim 10, wherein said adhesive includes a concentration of said salt of between about 5% and about 65% based on weight.
- 12. The composite as claimed in claim 10, wherein said adhesive includes a concentration of said salt of between about 10% and about 35% based on weight.
- 13. A water insensitive alternating current responsive composite comprising an adhesive and an organo salt that is substantially dispersed within said adhesive, said organo salt being responsive to the presence of an alternating current to provide a capacitive coupling from one side of said adhesive to another side of said adhesive of signal having a frequency of below about 1000 Hz.
