Claims
- 1. A hydrogen absorbing alloy electrode using a hydrogen absorbing alloy containing at least nickel, cobalt and aluminum, whereinletting a be the sum of the respective abundance ratios of cobalt atoms and aluminum atoms in a portion to a depth of 30 Å from the surface of the hydrogen absorbing alloy, and b be the sum of the respective abundance ratios of cobalt atoms and aluminum atoms in a bulk region inside the hydrogen absorbing alloy, conditions of a/b≧1.30 are satisfied.
- 2. A hydrogen absorbing alloy electrode using a hydrogen absorbing alloy containing at least nickel, cobalt, aluminum and manganese, whereinletting A be the sum of the respective abundance ratios of cobalt atoms, aluminum atoms and manganese atoms in a portion to a depth of 30 Å from the surface of the hydrogen absorbing alloy, and B be the sum of the respective abundance ratios of cobalt atoms, aluminum atoms and manganese atoms in a bulk region inside the hydrogen absorbing alloy, conditions of A/B≧1.20 are satisfied.
- 3. An alkali secondary battery using a hydrogen absorbing alloy electrode containing a hydrogen absorbing alloy as its negative electrode, whereinsaid hydrogen absorbing alloy contains at least nickel, cobalt and aluminum, and letting a be the sum of the respective abundance ratios of cobalt atoms and aluminum atoms in a portion to a depth of 30 Å from the surface of the hydrogen absorbing alloy, and b be the sum of the respective abundance ratios of cobalt atoms and aluminum atoms in a bulk region inside the hydrogen absorbing alloy, conditions of a/b≧1.30 are satisfied.
- 4. An alkali secondary battery using a hydrogen absorbing alloy electrode containing a hydrogen absorbing alloy at its negative electrode, whereinsaid hydrogen absorbing alloy contains at least nickel, cobalt, aluminum and manganese, and letting A be the sum of the respective abundance ratios of cobalt atoms, aluminum atoms and manganese atoms in a portion to a depth of 30 Å from the surface of the hydrogen absorbing alloy, and B be the sum of the respective abundance ratios of cobalt atoms, aluminum atoms and manganese atoms in a bulk region inside the hydrogen absorbing alloy, conditions of A/B≧1.20 are satisfied.
